You may be right about those 3 defensemen. But again, why would Yzerman make this trade? He's giving up a top 6 goal scoring winger for a guy his GM can't wait to trade? A team friendly long term deal? Not good enough. The only team who's happy with this trade is Buffalo. It's not Yzerman's job to make the Sabres better.

Reinhart is the best player. If you think Risto is horrible then I see why you wouldn't want to do it, but as a Sabres fan, i wouldn't do it either, which tells me it's close

I don't think Risto is horrible. But I'm not trading Mantha or AA for him. He's not worth it. If I'm trading 2/3 of my top line I'm getting alot more than Rasmus F'in Ristolainen. I don't know who Asplund is. But he can't be too good if you're throwing him in. Do you want to take Evgeny Svechnikov? I didn't think so. Sabres aren't trading Samson Reinhart.

i find +/- can be a quick and dirty stat that over the long-term can raise a red flag:

since he came into the league risto is a league worst (far and away) -143

he's PP specialist at this point in his career.
