$kinnner is over-paid by $3 million per year. He's maybe a second line winger on a good team. Why did we re-sign this clown when we have Remi Elie @ $700K ready to play on Jack's left side?

I mean, it wasn't. It's not Jack Eichel showing up to training camp 30 lbs over weight. It's a rookie that had to figure out that he needed to step up his game. - TheSabresTaco
how was it not a problem when your own GM said it was ?
he got a free golden ticket and thought it be easy now he understands he needs to work hard everyday
Every one is talking about a trade with Detroit. Has anyone learned anything about eklund over the years. I dont know how people can be baited so easily.

His story does not differ from 90% of the rookies that are in similar situations. Most, if not all rookies need to physically and mentally prepare for year two by taking the lessons they learn from year one. Even Jack Eichel needed to do this, even though he performed at twice the pace of CM, offensively.
He didn't say it was a problem because, even though it was an immediate issue, it's not a problem for a developing player. If Casey Mittelstadt was in the league for 3, 4 years and was out of shape, then yes, that's an actual problem.
While his strength and conditioning limited his effectiveness, it was not seen as a problem" , more so a development lesson.

It's less actually believing Ekloss, but more so that we have nothing better to talk about.

Yeah, once garth is reporting it, then I'll believe it. Credit where credit is due, he confirmed Gardiner to the Sabres was a done deal on July 3. Nearly 2 months before anyone else

Ok, I left my phone at home while I was dragged grocery shopping.
Pull this up and read it, get excited, then disappointed.
I hope Erod gets a flat tire and Larsson gets a 10 year extension
happy he step up now lets see if he can be that top 15 center this year - gerbe75pts
It's not the problem you made it sound like. You made it sound like Karlos Williams and his "sympathetic pregnancy" eating and gaining 40 lbs while also smoking all the pot.
I would wager 90% of the league could be in better shape.
Another Larry Quinn casualty. Wanted to re-sign mid-season, wasn't re-signed, went to UFA, St Louis offered him a bundle(4/$16M ~9% of the cap at the time) and he left.
His underlying numbers suggest he’s a 5/6/7 forward.
The eye test says he’s a fast guy with limited skill/brains.
I want to see him full time 3C and see if he can finally play a specific role/position - sbroads24
I see him and Vesey as a pair.
Regardless, he should be flanked by reasonable wingers, and for the first time in his career, I think he is slotted firmly as a center as you said instead of a "swiss army knife." I think that'll help.
If he plays a full season, I think he gets 40-45 points while playing in a slightly defensive role

I’m less interested in point total than just continuing to drive play in a specific role.
I suspect he doesn’t really get PP time anymore so 25-30 EV/PK points playing 3rd line minutes would be actually pretty solid
It would be tough to get much more unless he’s with 53 or 23.
35 5 on 5 points puts him in the Hayes/Pavelski/Schenn tier among centers.
I think we’d all agree he’s not there.
I can see 30 with Johansson and Vesey or if Mitts falls on his face and 23 is with him - sbroads24
If he's with competent wingers all season, I think he beats that. I dont think it's crazy to think he can be a better 5-on-5 point producer than Hayes.
If they saddle him with Okposo he'll look mediocre
If it's vesey-erod-mojo, he's going to turn a lot of heads with his production. Those are both guys capable of scoring 15-20, and he can get them the puck
I also think he has another gear for goal scoring. Not 20, but I think he could top out at 15

Not sure where the Love Fest for ERod is coming from, but IMO, we will know when/if the Sabres are good by when he is centering line 4. If he is in the top 9, well then they have at least one hole on their roster. Only issue is at $2M now on a 1 yr contract, he may become too expensive if they also have Okposo and his $6M contract on the 4th...they will likely need two linemates of Kyle's on ELC's until he goes somehow, someway.
