You can watch...and you can project. He has played 212 games over 3 seasons.
He has scored 111 goals. Solidly a 43-44 goal a year pace.
His BEST year...68 games, 37 goals...a pace of 46 goals.

He has NEVER played a season at a 50 goal pace YET, let alone 60.

He has the POTENTIAL to be a 60 goal scorer. But, to this point, not even a 50 goal a year guy.

- hawk35

The season you're talking about, Matthews had a 15 game goal scoring drought. That hasn't happened since and won't happen again.

Matthews has as just as good of a chance for 60 goals as Domi does “easily” getting 90 points or Danault being the next Bergeron I think.

Malkin and Crosby are in the Metro, not the Atlantic. And I would put JT and AM right up there in the direct company of Malkin/Crosby, Stamkos/Point as far as 1-2 punches go.

Dude, read the (frank)ing quoted comment, and don't just blurt poop out like a dumb (frank). Guy said JT/Matthews was was in the League and other guys said Crosby/malkin. It aint hard to follow.

Matthews is the best 5 on 5 goal scorer since he entered the league.

Mike Babcock sits him in the 3rd period of game 7 and plays Freddy Gauthier...

but I like Tavares' steadiness over Stamkos' highs and lows
- Adam French

This is ridiculous. Stamkos has outscored him the last two years...plus in very similar career games, Stamkos holds a large lead in both goals and points.

Stamkos is the better PP player no questions asked, 5vs5, I'll take Tavares.

...

It's nice to see the writers in a consensus stance that AM and JT are the best 1-2 punch in the Atlantic. They may be the best 1-2 punch in the entire NHL.

Domi.........are you nuts. He wasn’t worth a bag of pucks two years ago, and could go that way again. Matthews will perform every year. Ridiculous comparison.

He was slowed by time out and likely played while his injury was not yet at full strength. It was noticeable to those of us watching the games. It's about momentum being interrupted by injury, not just projecting stats paces.

Malkin and Crosby?

In years past maybe. Both seem to be declining.

They also play in a crap division.
