I am by no means a Toronto fan, far from it. I will say it is possible AM could score 50 goals in a season, in fact, he probably will. He won't do it regularly, but I think he'll have a season or two where everything clicks. He might even do it while he's still with the Leafs!

Absolutely NOT the point. Matthews is a great player. Few are disputing that. He will almost certainly score 50 goals in a season several times. MAY even hit 60 at SOME point, who knows....he has the skills. The point was Tanner professing Matthews was likely a 60 goal guy last year, when he scored less than 40...and even if he played ALL 84 games his pace was for 45 or 46. Nothing shabby, fantastic production. But, not 60! Geez, if we projected EVERY player to what he could do if he was healthy, pain-free and played max minutes of all 84 games, we could project all kinds of silliness on all players in the NHL.
Why do Leaf fans get their panties all in a knot when it is simply pointed out, no need to exaggerate. Matthews is great. a 45 goal scorer with potential to grow into a 50 or MAYBE even 60 goal guy in time. Geez, you wouldn't know but you said Matthews is AHL caliber the way some react. Relax dudes, enjoy the ride. And maybe a Cup along the way. But, try not to be so sensitive...
