I think liking any of the media attention in the Canadian cities would be pretty rare.

I find it very bizarre that Leafs fans can praise Tavares to high heaven, and at the same time shout down anyone who even dares to think that Matthews might want to leave Toronto after his 5-year contract is up.

You have a great point. The Ripper is all knowing. His ability to comprehend and retain every "Well Documented" article or sentence ever written involving the Leafs, is definitely worth paying attention to. He should have his own blog.

But the climate seems to be changing in a lot of ways. RFA contracts, Tavares leaving NYI, Stamkos deciding to take "less" to stay in Tampa.

I think that salaries at the top end have increased so much that taxes are now a real concern, players earn a more earlier in their careers and are maybe more willing to go to a "situation" they like better, whether that's "home" or "climate" or "contender" or "less media.

It just seems like the old patterns don't necessarily apply anymore.

It is legitimate to admit that nobody "knows". In fact, that is the only true statement any of us can make. It is equally legitimate to make a guess or predict what will happen.

You either understand that or you don't. I'm done trying to justify something this basic to you.
