Florida has been predicted to make a jump up the standings every single year since booth and weiss were their young stars.
Yet here we are, 2 playoff appearances in the last 14 seasons - BestRapperAlive
Yeah, while I could see Florida doing better no doubt, I am tired of hearing about their great young talent and how "This Year" they'll be far better.
Every summer you are guaranteed to hear Florida Panther hype. |

It has been 15 years since Toronto has won a round in the playoffs. Every year the real hype we hear is about Toronto, yet here we are. |

I personally think Carolina will regress a bit. Florida will be a top team.
BOLD PREDICTION for 2019-20: - Leafs fail to qualify for the Playoffs.
Atlantic Division:
1. Tampa Bay Lightning
2. Boston Bruins
3. Florida Panthers
4. Toronto Maple Leafs
5. Buffalo Sabres
6. Montreal Canadiens
7. Detroit Red Wings
8. Ottawa Senators
Metropolitan Division:
1. Washington Capitals
2. Pittsburgh Penguins
3. Philadelphia Flyers*
4. Carolina Hurricanes
5. New Jersey Devils
6. New York Rangers
7. Columbus Blue Jackets
8. New York Islanders - xShoot4WarAmpsx
How did this idiocy work out for you last summer.

This is simply not true. Where was the hype in 2015? And Toronto actually makes the playoffs and Florida hasn't won a series in 23 years. |

How is this not true? Ever since they hired Babcock basically the last 5 years the NHL has been pumping their tires non-stop (along with the majority of the Canadian media). Florida has been miserable for some time now, no debating that. |

Pretty fair I think.
I think the Metro is gonna be bad. I like Washington, the Flyers, and Carolina to make it, but only Washington is any good. Pittsburgh only makes bad moves but I guess they'll probably sneak in until Sid and Geno retire.
Tampa the leafs and boston finish top three, could be in any order really. I think Florida is talented, but Montreal will probably edge them with a less talented team because they always do. Buffalo will look a bit better but their goaltending won't let them get much higher than 6th.
As for the west I don't have a lot of strong opinions except that I like Vegas to win it all. |

[quote=xShoot4WarAmpsx]Wut?
Nashville added Duchene and still has one of the best teams in the west
Winnipeg is the same team, all they lost was Trouba and Hayes who was just a late season pickup
St. Louis isnt magically not going to play well because their goalie is unproven.
Colorado improved significantly
Chicago is garbage. Yes Lehner can be a good addition but Crawford has had some health issues the past few seasons. You re revamped d is lead by dmen on their last legs and offensively chicago is arguably weakest in the west. Theres no depth behind Toews and Kane
Chicago was 8th in the league goals for. Have you ever heard of Alex Debrincat?
Check out his goals totals last few years. in the 40's!!! Ever hear of Dylan Strome? How about Brandon Saad? Andrew Shaw? No depth? There Defense stunk real bad. Im surprised you dump on the hawks since you live in hamilton surrounded by leaf nation and being a flyers fan. do you just keep you're mouth shut or ride the bandwagon come playoff time? still butt hurt from 2010? get over it - Thoroldbhawks
I'll give you Debrincat, forgot about him but Stome is nothing special, Saad is past his prime and Shaw is a scrub. Chicago was 8th in scoring because of Toews and Kane having career years. They carried Chicago offensively.

I cant recall what I did yesterday let alone my predictions from last season. I know I had some correct picks and some not so correct. I dont believe I picked Toronto to miss last season. I figured Philly and Toronto would be close. Obviously PHI went in freefall in the 1st half and while they almost recovered, they fell short.
I know I 100% said Islanders would surprise people. |

Yea but Goaltending has been an issue for them for a while now. Booth also wasnt the same after the Richards hit. Luongo had injury issues and consistency issues and Reimer just wasnt good enough. Bobrovsky is no guarantee, it is probably safe to say his attitude might be an issue given the circus act in CBJ |

Babcock has bnot been there that long though, and his first season not a single person hyped them up.
And FYI, The Winnipeg Jets have been by far the most hyped up Canadian team in terms of cup chances. Not Toronto.
https://www.sportsnet.ca/...edictions-2018-19-season/
9 out of 16 SN analysts picked Winnipeg to win the cup. 0 picked Toronto last season.
There has been a tendency to pick Florida to be better every single year for the past 15 years or so and it never happens. |

Wow no depth behind Kane and Toews ? Stromme Debrincat Saad Shaw Dach Perlini this is the most forward depth they had in a long time. i bet you they have a better record then your Flyers. |

You didn't mention DAL. They improved significantly.
Nashville took a small step back as I think losing PK will have more impact than adding Duchene.
STL will be real good if their goalie is up to the task, but probably a wild card even if he regresses a little.
COL should be better, but I'm not sure I agree that they are significantly better.
WIN took a decent step back losing Trouba.
CHI improved their defense significantly. They also improved their situation in net. Aside from Kahun, they didn't lose any real offense. AA to a lesser extent, but Shaw should replace his points.
Maata and DeHaan are 25 and 28 respectively, so not exactly over the hill. They are also leaps and bounds better than what we had last year.
Your point about Crawford is exactly why we got Lehner. If Crow goes down, we now have Lehner and Delia in net instead of Ward and Delia. That is also leaps and bounds better than last year.
I stand by my earlier post that COL, WIN and CHI will be battling for the 2 wild card spots in the west. - tvetter
This is the best overall assessment of the Central I've seen in this blog. Folks definitely are underrating Chicago for some reason, perhaps due to 'recency bias'. |
