From EK's update. Not that I believe BB is being shopped.

"On Boeser...

The Canucks may have turned down a deal with the Devils I am told..That deal would have included Pavel Zacha....I feel Boeser stays and signs...but offers continue to come in..."

it's not surprising that other GMs would throw out offers for unsigned players/hold-outs.

having said that, do i think that ek has info on specific offers? that would be a hell no.

it's probably the speculation of a fan or a person tangentially involved in the sport. no better or worse than us throwing out "offers" for marner.

I think lot's of GM's are getting calls on RFA's, so why would that be funny?

Every GM with a high ticket RFA is probably getting lots of calls

If BB ever was traded I could see MIN stepping up. Hometown star would be a huge win for the Wild.

About frigging time. Kyper and MacLean should just stick to leaf talk. That’s all they cared about anyway.

i don't think benning seriously entertains offers unless bb goes full holdout for an extended time.

if that happens, i agree that minny would probably be the landing spot.

that 5 billion they spent on hockey rights was way too much. this is the easiest way to cut costs. get rid of the high paid on-air talent and replace them with recently retired players/executives who will be paid much less.

not gonna disagree but kyper was their best insider. he might not be bobby mac but he was the guy on sportsnet who "broke" more stories than the others they had/have.

Absolutely plus replacing them with stars/analysts that are current. Bob McCown, Kypreos, maclean, have all run their courses now if we can just get rid of Scott Oake and Ron McClean that would be perfect!

Bring back Strombo!

That may be true, But the problem with Kyper was that if it wasn't the Rangers-Leafs-Caps it just didn't matter. Way too biased.

I hope they keep Kelly Hrudey...one of the few that are decent. Enjoy the Brian Burke stuff too. Maybe Burke will replace Cherry one day?

I doubt Boeser is being shopped either unless an offer comes in that would allow the team to improve currently. Which I doubt NJ is going to make their team worse just to get Boeser.

NHL.com I think it was put out their player points projections for this season. Boeser 66 points over 82 games. He's a very good player but he's certainly not Petey untouchable.

There's got to be some new faces waiting for their chances. The guys they had have been around for a while now.

he was a sycophantic fanboy. i get that he was intimidated by the others on set as he was the outsider (not being a "hockey guy") but his fawning and passivity was cringe worthy.

*i know you like him because of his music chops and long form interview style but he was out of his depth on hnic.

Chicago has Patrick Sharp now that he's retired. Saw a few segments with him and I thought he did very well. Not sure he would be good reviewing about the league though.

Jeebus, over 2 years since the Twins retired and we're still b*tching about not trading them? The more things stay the same, the same things keep coming back up.

Since it's close to training camp, and my birthday, here's my prediction for the season:

Boeser doesn't sign until just before the deadline thanks to holding out for a deal like Marner wants (or at least in that ballpark (and Marner ain't signing for less than Matthews money)).

Pettersson starts slow due to not having Boeser on his wing, but makes up for it after the Christmas break and at least equals his points total from last year, if not slightly better although his goals go down and his assists go up

Quinn Hughes is used mostly as a PP QB and doesn't get much ice time due to learning the NHL speed and is in Green's doghouse a lot.

Tanev gets injured blocking a shot early in the season and ends up on the IR for most of the season making trading him impossible

Tyler Myers gets exposed as Gudbranson 2.0 and has the worst +/- on the team along with the worst advanced metrics.

Eriksson and Sutter are both traded by the deadline for the almighty "Future Considerations" which eventually turn out to be nothing more than whoever takes them worst prospects that are 13th forwards or 7/8th defencemen on an ECHL/IHL level team.

Markstrom regresses to mean and due to that, Demko plays 35 games to Markstrom's 57 and takes over the number 1 spot by TDL.

With all that said, I predict the Canucks miss the playoffs once more and end up in 20th place (roughly where we were last season)

Benning and Green get fired even though Benning was just extended and we start the merry-go-round all over again to satisfy big Franny's desire to suck up playoff gate revenue to keep the Aquilini's one step away from bankruptcy.

Epic post. I only agree with the Tanev part.

He was one of the warmer ones towards the Canucks and Maclean even more so. If the Canucks were being discussed on Hockey Central At Noon... it was because of those two. MacLean usually is the first to pay attention to the rookie performances out west. I think the producers are the ones reluctant to give air time to the Canucks on that show.

Here's a podcast about Podz at the 4 Nations. It's a scout that was there.
