Like Virtanen was for us? - LordHumungous
Before people realized he is a role player and not a star, tickets sold when he joined the Canucks. He was a draw for 1/4 of a season, and if he was a 20-25g and 60+ point guy he still would be. |

he was a sycophantic fanboy. i get that he was intimidated by the others on set as he was the outsider (not being a "hockey guy") but his fawning and passivity was cringe worthy.
*i know you like him because of his music chops and long form interview style but he was out of his depth on hnic. - RealityChecker
Partially, but also I never thought hew was given a fair shake to succeed.
People said the exact same thing about Ron McClean after he replaced Dave Hodge and he turned out fine. Strombo just needed more time to get comfortable with the role IMO. |

He was one of the warmer ones towards the Canucks and Maclean even more so. If the Canucks were being discussed on Hockey Central At Noon... it was because of those two. MacLean usually is the first to pay attention to the rookie performances out west. I think the producers are the ones reluctant to give air time to the Canucks on that show. - boonerbuck
I know Maclean backed the Canucks a bit but I rarely, if ever saw it from Kyper. Maybe I just didn't catch it at the right times but it always seemed he was anti-Sedins-Canucks to me. I didn't hate the guy but not disappointed to see him gone either. |

He knew (frank) all about hockey. They were just trying to market the millennial angle with him. In with that came the super skinny pants and douche bag hair cuts. Glad they went back to comfortable pants and sitting on a panel instead of pacing around in front of a wall screen on the set looking like awkward puppets... |

Hard to take Strombo serious during that massively failed attempt to introduce that overbearing personality into HNIC.
I absolutely tuned him out with his stupid red chair, glad there was an executive with one braincell that was smart enough to see the colossal failure Strombo is. |

So I guess you wouldn't be disappointed to see Vantel gone either, he was and still is anti-Sedins. |

not gonna disagree but kyper was their best insider. he might not be bobby mac but he was the guy on sportsnet who "broke" more stories than the others they had/have. - RealityChecker
No doubt he's connected but his personality and on-air presentation irked me. His delivery was often incoherent and at times came across as him being unprepared. |

I don't think Bo is a playmaking centre nor is he a scoring centre. I don't think he compliments EP's skill set. I don't think you have a choice but play EP at centre to give him full control of the ice.
And that's just the first line. |
