Yes they did. Except for that magical Cup run in 2006. Fernando Pisani!

Magical right up until Marc-Andre Bergeron ran his own goalie.

yup... EK's up there - no doubt.

but the pinnacle is Marner's uncle Darren "Call me Mr Offersheety" Dreger....

I'm just hoping one of the talking heads has the balls to call him on camera - for the months and months and months of total unadulterated BS...

- BorjeFan4Ever

Are you Leaf fans still calling Dreger "Paul" on his twitter? That was hilarious. ☺ It'll be interesting to see if he dials down on the offer sheet talk next season.

nicely done... you olde bastard! ;-) - Leafs should have hung onto Zaitsev

listening to Foster Hewitt call those games, and the Canada Cup games in 74, 76 was hilarious, coming from a family of immigrants partially from eastern europe we knew that the names "just aren't that complicated"... my Dad would shake his head

most entertaining... Foster trying to pronounce Tsygankov in 72... or whomever in 76 I believe Zinetula Bilyaletdinov

- BorjeFan4Ever

Hey I wasn't born until 3 years later but I seen all the games. 😂

If Rollie the Goalie doesn't get injured Oilers would've won that series. Well I think so anyway.

don't follow sh/twitter at all - but yes it was hilarious that he was called out that way...

and I don't believe he dials it back... he's more of double and triple down type guy... he will NEVER admit he made the entire crock up...

I watched most of the games ... the final game was insane. The teachers brought little TVs into school - if they had them - it was pretty much one smallish TV per classroom, some classes doubled-up.

I believe the broadcast started maybe 11am or there abouts local time...

total insanity... kids crying when the Canadians fell behind.

pandemonium when Henderson scored....

"just a regular day a school"

Paul Henderson used to spend his summers where I'm from. My dad used to be his paper boy when he was 12. Henderson stiffed my dad one summer and never paid up. Ever since then he hated Paul Henderson. 😂

I recall years ago when Dreger was a know nothing hack on Sportsnet. How did he become a so called "Insider"? Because he and Dave Nonis are family? It always irritates me how Dreger tries to talk like Bob McKenzie does. Dreger is as phony as a 3 dollar bill. He's clearly a mouthpiece for Paul Marner.

Almost as sure a thing as Calgary in '04 had the game 6 goal counted.

hilarious...

I've been really honored to meet and speak with the man on several occasions. I left Canada for a job shortly after University, went off to Europe. Return to Canada (Toronto) five plus years later, with girlfriend in tow. She had never skated - but had seen me skate while in Europe.... so she wants to learn how to. We wander down to the outdoor skating rink on Queens Quay... where she wistfully watches a couple glide elegantly around the ice surface - which contained no one but them and us. My girlfriend remarks to me .. how great they look - I ask her - "any idea who that is"? - response is of course "no" - how could she. So long story short, my girlfriend now wife gets skating lessons from Paul Henderson and his wife. We met there several times that winter and the next...

he's a genuinely nice guy (even if he ripped off the paper boy)

Dreger parlayed that Nonis relationship into a full time career for quite a number of years...

but he's about as much of an insider as EK

I hope both make it because it'll sound like the 1972 Summit Series all over again... Korshkov passes it to Mikheyev and down the ice they come. Mikheyev... In the corner over to Korshkov. He passes it back to Mikheyev. Over to Kharlamov. He passes to Yakushev over to Mikhailov to Korshkov he shoots he scores! What a play by Boris Mikhailov to set up Korshkov but the key play was made by Mikheyev. Dryden seemed to freeze on that shot by Korshkov and it's 1-0 for the Soviet Leafs...

From another thread:

(frank) buston pussthews🤦‍♂️

he can go be hurt every year in the southwest 🤦‍♂️

he, female dog marner and greedy willi and kessel can go jack each other off in glendale when they win the president trophy then get crushed by grown men who care about their team more than money in the playoffs like every year here🤦‍♂️

Brian Burke rules.
He might only be right 30% of the time, but he sells his ideas quite well - plus he was never afraid to take a risk. Rather see a GM to go full on and take a risk than to not take any big decisions at all, and 'not making any mistakes' (not naming any names of other GMs here... )
Hockey is entertaiment, and GMs like Burke make the NHL more entertaining and interesting that most of current risk-averse GMs.
Would love Burke to replace Cherry on HNIC by the way.

Just sign Marner to a 8year deal at 11.5mln.
Leafs are ok on FW - have quite a bit of depth; just trade Johnsson or Nylander to make room if necessary.

The best part of that was his insistence that it didn't bother him.

I thought everyone learned in like grade 1, that you NEVER say it doesn't bug you. That is proof positive that it does bug you and the only possible result is people doing more of what bugs you.

I hope Paul at least lubes him up before hand-puppeting him.
