The only other option the Sabres have right now at No. 2 center is the 26 yr. old Rodrigues, a versatile forward who's more suited to a third-line/bottom-six role. Rodrigues had spot duty in the top-six last year and performed admirably, but Mittelstadt has the skills to be a mainstay up there.

Dahlin and the defense might be at least as important...but, point taken

Member everyone saying about a month ago that some of us were crazy because trades will happen and this roster will look a lot different come September.

i don't know.. i think coaching is going to make or break that defense so i put coaching ahead of dahlin. but i get where youare coming from

anything can happen I guess but it sure is looking more and more like this is our roster.

I just think having an actual 2nd line with multiple 20 goal scorers does more to make this team relevant than anything else. Itll cover up other problems and it'll mean we're playing in the other end more which should naturally ease the GAA. Mitts is the key to everything imo. That's a lot to put on his plate, unfortunately
