Lets see who he hires for President.
- A_SteamingLombardi

Ideally a forward thinker with a clear vision for the team. Obviously someone who can identify and recruit smart hockey minds as well. I think Gillis was actually good at identifying smart people to hire, he just went overboard with his analytics, especially draft-wise.

Wouldn't he have been way better at drafting then?

It sure felt recently that Gillis was prowling around for JB's job. He was promoting himself on anything that was listened to or viewed by this market. The timing was suspicious. Now he's vanished again.

I think the Canucks missed the boat on Gillman when he took the position with Toronto. Also another person who I think was presenting himself to this market looking for employment. He would have been good again for this organization.

You have a point. Gillis was and still is a big picture organizational guy. Like you said he had a talent for hiring talented people. Just not a good GM who can put hockey sense into team building.

Though worse has been said of JB. Who sounds bumbling but seems to understand talent just not the business side and contracts around them.

The balance would be having a President who stays out of the hockey operations and handles all the business side of things. Technical aptitude. So who is available to do that?

Ferland on the 1st? I don’t like it.

And please don’t say he’s going to make room for BB and EP.

You got to provide more of an explanation. Your thumbs can’t be that tired. Or are you already into the scotch?

No, I don't believe there's any exact data out there capable of accurately judging 17 and 18 year olds based playing in different leagues, in different roles. There's always going to be an eye test part to it.

I agree, I would have kept him around as the capologist and to help with contract negotiations. No way he would have let LE's contract be buyout proof

I've been listening to Traffic all day and Steve Winwood is a genius, playing professionally from the age of 15.
