They don't want to spend money on a rb because it is foolish. let's try not to do dumb things. - Slump Buster
Paying old RBs big money is foolish I agree
I am not arguing that
But wouldn't it be in your best interest while you have your franchise QB on his rookie deal to get him the best play makers around him before you have to pay him franchise QB money? |

McCoy was not in the top 3 imo. If they were going to keep 4, I still would have had Murphy over him |

Sure, you just don't do it with big money backs. That ship sailed for a reason. Gordon had similar stars as his backup. Same with Bell in pittsburgh. Don't get caught up in brands. |

This is a reply to my post about trading for Gordon or Zeke
Nothing to do with McCoy |

Exactly. Star qbs can help a running game. It doesn't work in the other direction . See Giants, NY. |

Trubisky is an average QB at best playing in a very creative Matt Nagy scheme. It’s a shame their kicker blew their chance at a ring. Strong defence and running game wins in the playoffs. |

You're implying that Prescott isn't a decent qb. We will soon find out. Now only 9 back making more than 6 mill a year. You must know something that everyone else does not. |

I believe the Bills have a strong defense
A good running game would help Allen in the passing game
Dak threw for 3900 yards last season with the help of a strong running game |

You have a QB on a rookie deal
Before you have to pay said QB give him all the support he needs
If that is a bigger money RB then so be it
The Bills have almost $30 million in cap space
Having a big money RB is not going to hurt them |

I don't disagree with any of that with the exception that it is completelyunnecessary. Gordon had one decent season. There 2 or 3 stars and the rest of them can be thrown in a hat. |

Averaging 1400 total yards of offense his last 3 seasons is "decent"?
12 TDs
12 TDs
14 TDs
His last 3 seasons total amount of TDs
If there is ever a time to have a good big money RB on your roster it's right now |

Big Bens first ring, Peyton Manning’s last ring, Joe Flacco, Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, Both of Eli Manning’s rings.
The Seahawks legion of doom destroyed the best offence of all time 43-8 in the SuperBowl.
How did the Rodgers led packers do last year without a defence or running game ?
How do the Stafford led Lions do every year ?
How did the Brees led Saints do before they got Kamara and a defence ? Multiple years of mediocrity and he’s going to set every passing record of all time.
The franking Bills make the playoffs once in what feels like 80 years on the back of a strong running game and defence.
Tim Tebow has more playoff wins then half of the NFL rosters in the last 10 years |

Dak is a taller version of tyrod Taylor. He’s not even close to great. Average at best. |

Says nobody in the league. It isn't a coincidence that the money is being spent offensive linemen and quarterbacks. Big money rb is something for the foolish teams to do. It isn't a coincidence that the Patriots never pay a back.

You're making a completely different argument. I am not saying that those things don't matter. QB and offensive line matter the most. Smart coaching matters. Having good runnings backs that are cheap helps. Spend the money on the line, not the RB.
It's amazing that the dinosaurs still go back 20 years ago to mention Trent Diler. Different league back then. P Manning squeaked one out in his final year because of stud D play (they wisely spent the money there). People forget that Joe Flacco and E Manning played out of their minds in the playoffs.
It's the same thing with goalies. You want a goalie to be hot in the playoffs and goaltending absolutely matters.... just don't pay them.
Also, New England again won the super bowl with a statistically bad D and a stable of very cheap backs. |

That was essentially one play. The Giants were able to pressure Brady up the middle. That's why they won.
Defense and running game still ultimately wins you Championships. The difference is that now this is a league where the passing game is what gets you there. |

The Patriots have the best QB of all time comparing anything they do to what the Bills do is crazy
The Bills have spent money on their OL
They don't have to spend money on their QB at the moment because he is on his rookie deal
So if you have the ability to spend it without it hurting your ability to pay said QB when his rookie deal expires why wouldn't you? |

They held Brady to 14 points because they had two bookend pass rushers and could afford to get after the passer with 4 guys and not bringing a rush. |
