Before the nasty allegations about him on the airplane, of course. |

True story (I wasn't actually there, but this story is told over and over and over again amongst friends whenever we get together):
Vaive came out of Donwood Variety after having bought a carton of smokes.
A friend saw him coming out, and said something to the effect of, "Aw, c'mon, Rick - what about the kids? You are their hero!"
To which Vaive told him to FRANK OFF!
I swear, this story gets retold at least once a year. - Atomic Wedgie
Was that me???
My incident was right in front of the variety store....that's where I bought my Player's Lights to go sit on the wall and smoke with my 12 year old friends.
(...and also smoking at 12, (frank)ing Scarborough kids) |

Wendel and Kaberle. Clark was all heart and Kaberle is one of the best Leaf defencemen of all time. He just never seems to get that love. Hasn't been a Leafs D man that can move the puck like him in my 35 years. Was a treat to watch. |

It all depends on how old you are. I have an uncle who would fight anyone who would dare say Dave Keon wasn’t the greatest of all time. |

Perhaps the biggest S.O.B. to ever play the game.
He may have been a great player, but he was (and still is) a despicable human being. |

When you see some of the picks it hits home just how bad the Leafs have been all these years. Ballard screwed us over so bad. |

I think fans are too one dimensional in their thinking. The favourite is always strongly directed toward offence.
My favourite, all-time, is the gut willing to do anything to keep the puck out of his teams net. Including eat the puck if he has too! Demitri Yuskevich, the warrior.
Honourable mentions; The greatest Leafs goalie of my time, Potvin. Sundin, the unsung hero for many years. Gilmore "Never say die" Killer. And finally, pound-for-pound the toughest guy to ever play the game (or maybe that should be inch-for-inch?), Domi.
Marner was on a trajectory to making my list but I'm really souring on the young players these days that are money first, hockey second. I understand wanting to get paid but to consistently to to the extra mile, even to the wire, to squeeze every dollar you can get at the expense of the quality of your team... It need to stop. |

There's really only a few guys who deserve "God-like Status" in Toronto over the past 50 years.
Sittler. Salming. Sundin.
That's really about it.
I loved Wendel, but he's miles away from a HHOFer.
Gilmour played just over 5 seasons in Toronto.
Everybody else either played here briefly or was a marginal player who we idolized because we had nobody else to cheer for. |

Ask the Air Canada stewardesses on the Leafs flights, who complained about his disgusting behavior.
Ask his son, who he refused to speak to for over 10 years.
Ask Leafs management, who he held a grudge against because when Keon's wife divorced him, Dave Keon Jr. sided with his mom, and Keon was pissed that the Leafs didn't fire Keon Jr. as a goal judge - he felt they were choosing sides.
Ask Leafs management who had to endure his narcissistic boycott for years.
Ask just about anyone who has ever known him. |

Lucas. Who would you have on this current Leafs team. You can only pick 3 of the following ex Leafs. Anyone you pick would be in their prime.
Tucker, Roberts, Mogilny, Leetch, Yuskevich, Potvin - systemtool
Leetch shouldn't be on this list.
He was well past his prime by the time he hit the Leafs.
Mogilny, too. |

They were magical, rarely do you see 3 players form a line where the sum is so much greater than the parts
Then Maccarthur walked in the summer with no attempt to re-sign, and the chemistry was gone forever
Kulemin completely forgot how to score
Grabovski was still good but never deserved that contract (age old story). Still love him though, gave more poops than a million melanders |

It's a purely fictional trade proposal for summer talk and poops and giggles.
As I said all players would be in their primes in this hypothetical situation. |
