Ranger fan here but I thoroughly enjoyed and was glued to the TV when the Leafs were kicking the crap out of the Icelanders in those two good playoff series so I have a bit of a tie for my past favorite(s).....Corson, Tucker, Roberts. But my real favorite past Leaf was probably Gilmour (even though he played for the Devils)
Favorite present Leaf is no doubt Mitch Marner

I would like to stop and think about the fact than John Tavares is a maple leaf, scored 47 goals last year, and is our 3rd best player. imagine someone told you that 5 years ago?

Further afield but the Granite brewery at Eglinton and Mount Pleasant is pretty good. I would buy the first round if we can agree on a time.

Inge Hammarstrom.

Although loved the scoring/toughness combo of Wendel. He was a fun Leaf to watch.

I’ve never been a Leafs fan (though I liked Mats), but I do have a guy I turned around on from hating to appreciating.

Like many people who watched their teams play against Tie Domi, I couldn’t stand him.

Then the incident happened with our schmuck of a fan fell into the box when Domi was jawing with him. Finally Domi squirted some water at him, and the dude stupidly blew his lid. The fan fell into the box, and should have gotten his ass kicked far more than he did. You guys know the story. 2001.

Well, afterwards (and this part is almost never talked about), Tie Domi met with the guy after the game. They settled it like men. No lawyers. No BS. They shook hands and talked for a bit. Turns out, they became friendly after.

Domi paid for the guy and his wife to be put up in Toronto and got them seats for two playoff games. He didn’t do it to avoid a lawsuit. He did it because he was a mensch.

I was listening to the radio, and both were reunited years later. They both refer to the other as “great guys” now.

Tie Domi made a ton of enemies on the ice, but that was a class act move. For both of them, really. They handled it like adults. Nobody got litigious. It was basically huggin’ in out.

Loved Domi
He tells a great story of how Messier got on him about how he could actually be a good hockey player if he’d lose the shenanigans
Never seen a guy take several clean, square punches from Bob Probert and keep going at him. Crazy!
Tough SOB is an understatement and he did actually have some very skilled hockey ability
