I even read it? Let me guess.

"everyone is a moron"

"I James Tanner am the smartest and the best at everything. Whatever I believe right now is the absolute truth. Anybody who disagrees with me is a moron. I would say we should get rid of all the morons but if there are no morons then who can I insult to make me feel better about my own pitiful existence."
.

Wow dude you really let James rent a nice little space in your head.

More analysis of the game in general, archived footage (an On This Day bit), and more hockey people that aren't drunk all the time while ducking pucks and giggling between the benches during the broadcast.

I'd actually like to see Don Cherry doing hockey stuff at local rinks and giving pointers to the youngsters. Maybe even do a Rick Mercer-type rant, but ultra slowly and double-fisted with Blue Lights.

Musical guests are just for opening and closing. Arcade Fire is one of the best bands of all-time.

Well let's hope that no hockey broadcaster gets desperate enough to hire you to even sweep their studio. I can only imagine what one of your programs would look like. We'd have Shaggy singing "It Wasn't Me" after the first period and a magician talking about take aways. Then in the second intermission, Howie Mandel could explain the off side rule using his Bobby voice; maybe animated!

Definitely see the need for an overhaul in the format, I liked the Strombo move a few years back and was disappointed it was reversed.

I assume the panels are a budget and consistency thing, the amount of money it would take to produce original content would probably be much more than having 4 guys in a studio, but its a great idea. I think the 2nd period int panel still works, the rumours are fun to hear about, but coach’s corner has to end. Don Cherry is barely coherent these days and his views are brutally archaic.

Id be open to any of the other ideas, would be fun to see them try things over the years and see what sticks. Then main thing would be to bring in a charismatic and open minded host who is committed to the job and who can sell these ideas to the audience.

Most hockey producers are in that age bracket, the issue is their bosses

It seemed to be the younger fans who wanted Strombo gone. I remember comments like skinny jeans and hipster. No wonder the networks are afraid to try new things. Whenever young people get promoted it’s other young people who get the knives out.

Would love to see Tanner talk hockey with all of the guys he just dissed. He get owned on live TV. Would literally pay money to see Tanner explaining to Hitchcock and McLellan how they should have had Puljijarvi playing with McDavid because of their Corsi numbers. Or remember when he said Tocchet was the worst coach ever. Would pay to see him tell Rick in person.

I'd do better telling a professional NHL coach what is what than you would do talking to me. That's if in real life your incel ass can even hold eye contact for more than two seconds without breaking out into a cold sweat, which I seriously doubt.

My guess is the old dinosaur coach would more likely knock you out.

Just a guess.

Yeah, sure, if anyone knows anything it's that millionaires are always punching people during interviews. Do you honestly ever think before you hit submit?

I didn’t see anything about interviewing, can’t see you getting a gig involved with TV. I was figuring you were just going to interrupt them when they were out for supper, tell them how bad they are and how it’s done. FML

Your article is mostly spot on, other than musical guests idea which I don’t see working out. But fully agree the hockey personalities on these broadcasts are boring as poop and the overall production is entirely outdated.

Coming up in our 2nd intermission...Tanner sits down with Ken Hitchcock to explain how a basic understanding of Corsi would have helped Hitch figure out that he should have played McDavid with Puljijarvi. Todd McLellan joins to explain that McDavid and Puljijarvi never actually scored any goals together so Corsi didn't matter to him. Tanner then yells cut and we enjoy a live performance from Arcade Fire featuring a guest appearance from John Chayka Khan himself. Ratings winner!!

Leave it to Tanner to try and reinvent the hockey broadcast. Just what we need, woke bullsh!t and idiot social justice jerkoffs. Hockey is just fine and the broadcast needs not have political commentary and the need to add every under-represented group. Just let us enjoy the game and not have to listen to uninformed drivel. Football took a kick in the balls trying to do this exact thing. ESPN lost allot of viewership when they decided to have a political slant on their sports commentary. This sh!t need not enter the hockey realm. If so, it'll suffer immensely.
