I honestly don't expect any of the prospects to make the opening night roster but I do think this should be one of the most exciting camps in some time. The amount of talent coming in the next two years between Frost, Farabee, Ratcliffe & others is exciting.

Agreed that prospects will play no role related to opening night roster
But still 19/20 will be a very different season
1) How many off game's for Carter Hart ? How many brilliant ones
2) Ghost traded or playing 3rd pair defence man
3) First time L and R shooting defence man being equal

I honestly expect Hart to play pretty similar to last year. Largely solid but a couple clunkers that he'll learn from.

Gotta assume Ghost is here to stay at this point. Hopefully it's an injury free, bounce back year for him.

Defense will be real interesting to watch as a whole. Fletch went out of his way to add some vets to help the young ones. Hopefully it pays off for all involved.

I hope he is but I'm not sold Ghost is here to stay.

I hope by end of year, Sanheim and Myers are paired and Ghost and Braun are paired.

I'm ok with Hagg being delt if it's a fair deal for the Flyers.

Um...I think Joe Watson went to the Colorado ROCKIES, not the Colorado Avalanche. But regardless...good story. I met him at an Alumni game, and he posed for a pic with me. NICE guy!

Neither am I. Right now I protect provie sanhiem and Myers. York will be here in a few years. Zamula and ginning have promise and attard with a chance.

Not sure about Ginning. I thought he was invisible in the WJC and everything I have read since they drafted him has been less than positive. I realize he is only 19 but is there something I have missed?

Invisible for Ginning is generally a good thing. Btw, while he's a guy the "pundit scouts" generally don't like, the actual ones employed by NHL teams do tend to like him.

Thanks for the input Bill. I guess I read to many pundits. The last prospect listing that I read had Zamula, St Ivany, Attard and Kalynuk all ranked above Ginning. I’m glad to hear that there are some positives out there.

How I interpreted the reports ginning s projection could be like a braun, attard like a slightly better Manning. But I’ve never seen attard play.

I have a hard time imagining Manning leading his league in scoring and setting a goal scoring record for a defenseman. But whatever.

Dunno, might not want to overrate Attard's offensive ability based on this year.

His team let him roam freely and he scored a lot of his goals basically as a forward. Having somebody as talented as Zach Jones as his d-partner for the first time probably didn't hurt either.

Gonna be interesting to see if he can produce without the same kind of leeway in college. Even if he doesn't, he's still big, nasty and RH. That'll at least earn him time in LHV.

Just played a nice game of NHL ice ina losing cause. Scored 5 goals with Rod Brind’Amour, five assists from Eric Lindros. Just to lose to Radek Bonk and Alexander Daigle.

Sometimes, people don't realize just how good NHL players, including marginal ones at that level, truly are.

Manning was a very good offensive defenseman in the WHL and had a monster overager season to earn an NHL contract. Later, with the Phantoms, was a two-time AHL All-Star.

Without a doubt, the gulf between the AHL/KHL and the NHL is enormous. Guys like Manning, Brennan, Peter White, Phil Varone, et al were top line/top pair players in the AHL but 4th line/3rd pair or in some cases barely borderline players in the NHL.

Does anyone have thoughts about twarynski as a sleeper for the fourth line? Didn’t see a lot of phantoms games last year.

After a strong camp, Twarynski struggled much of last season for the Phantoms.
