The Jets won't be trading Laine at this time. - islansjet
This
Chevy will passively sit by and wait a couple of years. He needs to have laine's value drop lot more before trading him. |

If I were the Leafs I would trade Marner right now and go after a #1 defenseman. They already have good enough offense without him. They would be alot better team IMO. Seem to me the Leafs want to be the 1987 Oilers and beat you with offense. |

Leafs have a #1 D who was top 5 in Norris voting, had 72 points and is only 25 signed at 5 million per.
They don't need to give up Marner in hopes of getting another #1 D, who is not available anyways. |

Didn’t intend on commenting on this, the latest false headline. However, I was blown away by how much Habs fans over-value Domi. He does many things well, but he does not have anything notably special about him, aside from maybe his Diabetic condition as an NHL player...
- Burnt_juice
As someone who watches a lot of Jet's hockey I'm blown away by how many fans, Jets in particular, over-value Laine.
Aside from his shot he does absolutely nothing at a top 6 level. He arguably has the lowest "hockey IQ" of any young player in the superstar conversation. He benefits considerably from a stacked Jets roster that forces opposing teams to spread their defensive assignments. When teams do focus their checking on him he becomes invisible at best. A defensive disaster at worst.
There's no denying with the right attitude in the right situation he could score 60. Sure the potential is there, but imagine him on a team with less depth where he's facing the tough matchup every shift. He could just as easily score 20 and be -50. |

Laine is 21. Domi was junk until just this passed season. The reason the Habs got him was cause the Coyotes weren't patient and wrote him off too soon like you're doing with Laine. 24 yr old Laine imo will be a beast.
Domis value is augmented by the fact hes the best C on the Habs and thus makes him more valuable to fans and management. - systemtool
Agree, not even close. Domi is a very good dirtbag, who had back to back nine goal seasons before the past season. Laine is potentially forty to fifty goal scorer for the next ten years, these two players only belong in the same conversation when a blogger is stirring sh!t, knowing that his last fifty or so offer-sheet/trade rumour blogs have been bs. |

This is all true. But I think even the most hardcore Leafs fan would agree that next year the defence could be very much a liability. Not sure what defencemen Dubas could target, (Colorado) in a deal for Marner, but a young stud on an entry level deal would be likely. I say do it |

Eh, remember when Nylander was 100% going to be traded this summer and Marner signing offersheets?
Leafs will be fine. The "Doom and Gloom" predictions are always a bust.
BTW, a team with Rielly, Muzzin and Barrie is actually pretty good. Not a liability at all. |

I say go to bed. Sleep off whatever it is you're on. Leafs dont need to make a Hall for Larsson trade. |

They have a number one dman already. The offense without Marner isnt as good as you think it would be. It will leave a major hole. Good teams find ways to fill holes without giving up young superstars yet to hit their prime. 21 yrs old and 11th in league scoring and you think the team is better off trading him? I dont get it..that's a disaster waiting to happen imo. |

Cause a Leaf hating Islander fan said so.
I'm sure if you whine, pout and close your eyes hard enough him being 5th in Norris voting will cease to be reality. He was definitely a contender but obviously not the winner. |

Your hate for the Leafs is strong. Too bad the Jets lost one d-man to free agency, traded their best young d-man for a bag of peanuts. |
