It's training camp month Green must be chomping at the bit to blend his lines and D parings. If not careful he might go blind with all the choices he has compared to the past. |

So, I guess you didn't read/listen to the interviews were he talked about the potential of having set lines this season. |

That's not what happens though. If your compensation includes a bonus or profit sharing if your employer hits certain sales levels, and then doesn't hit those sales levels, do you think you've been cheated when you don't get paid the bonus?
The difference with the players is that their bonus is assumed, paid as salary and clawed back if the targets aren't met. I'd expect the amount paid back to the players out of escrow is proportional as well, rather than an all or nothing situation.
I'm just surprised we haven't seen a more detailed explanation of how the escrow arrangement actually works. Especially now that it's supposed to be the hot button that may trigger a push by the players to renegotiate the CBA. - YeOldTimer
Ya, sorry I do t get the comparable.
Profit sharing and commission are often based off of performance, seniority and a number of other factors.
Players do have bonuses included in contracts whether that is performance or signing related.
Escrow essentially allows the owners to overpromise on contracts and rarely, I think only 2 or 3 times since its inception pay out the full negotiated amount.
It allows the GM's to sign FA's to outrageous contracts each year and artificially inflate the salary cap and the players across the board lose a portion of their contracted salary.
If you are hired at 80K a year would you be okay giving up 8-10K of that up in order to hire a coworker at 100K?

Since i spent decades in powerlifting I remember Franco from his strongman competitions, especially the fridge walk.
I don't know much about his bodybuilding career as I really dont follow that. Bodybuilding i laugh at.
Franco was a very interesting person if you listen to Arnold's accounts of their adventures together.
It mentions getting ill during swimming but no cause of death. Interesting
**some sites report he fell ill while swimming and later died in hospital...Another site says he drowned....quite opposing reports |

He was 80 . My guess of cause of death ? I will go oit on a limb and guess old age or he got the Viagra mixed up with the blood pressure pills. |

It seems his cause of death isn't something they wish to put in the news. Perhaps he was attacked by a creature while swimming in the Mediterranean.....that would make sense. Maybe jellyfish |

When you are 80 cause of death is not important . What doesn't kill you this week then something else will get you next week.

The Canucks are set for the next 2 or 3 years. They don't need any of those guys. |

You can't compare the salary of an athlete who's CBA specifically states that revenues are split equally and a guy working in an office. More similar would be an actor who agrees to a salary based on the box office take, or a band who gets paid based on ticket and merchandise sales for a concert. Do you think a promoter is going to pay based on best case scenario before the show even starts? |

the team's going to need a starting goalie next year.
does demko step up so that the team only needs to sign a backup? that would make life easier! if not, re-sign marky? cost?
does the team go after a bigger name ufa next year? how would that affect the asks for the rfa's (EP, QH) coming the next year?
this season is huge! not only on the ice but off. things could go extremely well and the team is a contender within 2-3 seasons or they could be a team with a few high-end pieces with a mess of a cap/roster.
beats being boring though but jb is on a tightrope. |
