If he holds the team hostage, like Free-Willie last year.... yup. - bixll
If he holds the team hostage like Nylander did he'll sit the year.

the money saved for Point - Symba007
Yes, look at what I said though. This was under the pretense that they move point to recoup the picks they expended to take on Marner. |

No they don't. Point unsigned. - bixll
I’ve said 5 times they would have to move him to get back picks. This isn’t an argument about whether Tampa would do it, I’m saying they could make it work if they wanted and I’m asking you if you’d take their 4 1sts for Marner? |

So they use their 8.5 and trade a 2 mill player to sign Marner?
TO would match and if any GM wanted to pay that for Marner i'm sure the offer sheets would have already been out there. |

Alright then we’re on the same page
I was just saying, there are teams that could do something that are up there in the standings. Especially those with high priced RFAs, like Calgary. I wouldn’t take their compensation personally. |

That’s not what I’m saying. Sign Marner and give up 4 1sts, trade 2 million in salary and then move Point to whoever, not necessarily back to Toronto. - RickJames77
I know, but I think they'd rather Point. ( just guessing and having fun ) |

I don’t think this can be a blanket statement. It depends which team’s first is involved. Just my opinion. - RickJames77
Very true.
Its foolish to want four 1st now while giving up one of the best young superstars in the league when your team is in win now mode. |

I can honestly say I never thought I would have ever seen a great player, that says he wants to be a Leaf for life, not willing to sign a contract that will pay him around $108MM in Salary and endorsements RIGHT AFTER HIS ELC.

I don't even see what Marner is waiting for. The Leafs only have a certain amount of money they can give him, waiting ain't gonna fix it. |
