Arbitration I think.

Ceci played well when Ottawa had their dream run.
Now he is on a much better team.

The Nylander contract is fair. I'd say it's right up to the max of what I would consider a fair deal though. Matthews contract is (frank)ing trash due to length. Cap hit is fine, could even have been higher and it would've been fine as long as the term was longer.

All just my opinion obviously.

- daeth

Agreed. Would have had no problem with the cap hit if it were an 8 year deal. Should have been closer to $10 mln on a five year term.

But Matthews didn't want to sign an 8-year deal.

So here we are...

I haven't read the Hockeybuzz CoC in a while, but I'm pretty sure that James Tanner calling someone an incel is a two minute penalty.

The whole Ceci thing kinda seems like an error at this point lol. Without him things would be less complicated and he's basically a replacement level player by all indication.
- daeth

I think there is more to this than we know.

It’s obvious Dubas would of rather had the cap space. Come on.

Fans don’t know poop about what goes on behind the scenes on these contracts.

I'm going to disagree here.

There were several ways that they could have removed Ceci and his cap hit (don't tender offer to him in the hopes he goes to arbitration, or frontload the contract to make him tradeable).

As bizarre as it sounds, I think Dubas thinks the guy can play hockey.

Dubas was fine with 5. He will be canned well before the end of the Matthews deal anyway and he knows it. Can’t be that soft in management, employees are not your friends Kyle.

It's the most...wonderful time...of the year.

Kids are back in school.

College football is back.

NFL starts Thursday.

NHL training camps just around the corner.

Wedgie is in his happy place.

- Atomic Wedgie

Ugh, the white thrash league starts Thursday?
I always enjoy sports so much more when I don’t have to hear about the god foresaken nfl.

He was given a qualifying offer by Ottawa...its a legit offer and Ceci is allowed to accept that whenever he pleases.

And a qualifying offer is 1.05% more than his past contract which is 4.515.

Ceci would of been stupid to let this go to arb.

Would you of rather had 13 million at 8 years?

Then we’d only have 7 million to sign marner.

I mean he wanted what he was worth and if it was an 8 year deal we would of had to say bye to Marner.
