this is my biotch with Risto, He plays like a man possessed against Tampa, Caps, then disappears for longs stretches. If he played hard 80% of the time I would say nothing about him. I just don't think you will ever see that kind of constancy out of Risto - hehateme

Simple strategy - keep Risto unless we get that 2C or 1/2 RW in exchange for him. |

Sometimes the " weakest people " are the other teams stars.
He was killing kuchorov, when we played Tampa.
Flat out destroying him and throwing him off his game.
Risto is a huge disruption on defense and a guy opposing teams do not enjoy playing against
Not bad for an offensive defenseman - Boss34
i would like to point out that we went 1-3 against tampa last year |

But he did it with a scowl on his face so the moral victory trumps this fact. |

he really got to him.. so much that we held him to single digit points and lost only 3 of the 4 games against them |

The first game against Tampa, Risto did play really well and shut him down.
The other 3 well not so much |

There are two types of sabres fans.
1. The ones who admit risto sucks.
2. The ones who will make excuses for him right up until the moment he is finally traded. Then it will be what a great trade Botts made, and laughing at the other team for taking Risto. And of course, whoever we get for Risto will be automatically amazing. |

I went to the game in Tampa, for win #11 in the streak.
Sabres and risto played really well
At the home game vs. Tampa , right before the trade deadline. Risto was a beast. |

Exactly. Giving him away is not going to happen. I've posted before that with Gardiner still out there, it hurts our chances of landing the asset we need. |

That would not bother me, like it didn't when ROR did it. It's probably not happening here so why not make it pay off for us? |

3. The fans that like risto, and realize this has a ror "trophy tour" season written all over it, if we trade him.
4. Keep risto instead of trading him at an all time low in his career. It's a value thing, and last year wasnt his best.
5. The fans that want risto gone. Never played any level of meaningful hockey, and do not realize the importance of physical play. You know who you are. |

I don't know if I fit into any of these. The guy has been a warrior for us and never had the chance to grow into a role. That said... I still think there is low hockey IQ here and you really can't overcome that.
