Risto...
Pach - you are generous in your placement of Risto, although I do like and agree to the pairing with McCabe ...so just knock those two down to 3rd Pairing and all is well.
I'd prefer for him to be traded, like for Mantha would be decent.
However, I'm ok if they try to rescue his career under Krueger.
The only flip side to that is that if it fails, be prepared to get value like a 3rd liner in return.
It's a gamble.
Montour, Miller are fine 2nd Pairing Dmen.
Risto isn't a 1st pairing, more a 2nd / 3rd tweener.
Montour and Miller can replace his PP time and most of his points on said PP
That leaves Risto with about 22 5v5pts
At $5.4m for a 3rd Pairing Dman trying to be rescued career wise...he really should be moved
Jokiharju at $950 can replace him.
People who say they don't care about the Stats, should also then not care about his 43 Pts and evaluate his play by the eye test to see how defensively deficient and to see how low his hockey IQ is based on the same lunk-head plays he makes.
To answer the question of who I'd rather face in the corner between him and Dahlin...Risto all day, yup he may hit me hard, but chances are I'll retain the puck and be able to lose him on the way to the net...Dahlin steals the puck and buries me in the corner 15 feet behind the play. - IonSabres
Said the 60 something who just had a stroke. Give me a (frank)ing break. Both would kill you, both would kill me, both would kill every last mother(frank)er on this board. Talk about fake tough guys, JFC!

I should add that I'm not vehemently opposed to trading him provided we get full value and not a bunch of spare parts, but given the last time a big trade was made, call me hesitant.

I was just looking at cap central, The Sabres are going to be shedding a shat load of dead weight after this year. What do the 2020 UFA's look like, we will have like 45 Mil to spend. - hehateme
Capfriendly is so much better than the dogpoop on this site.
Hot take for the night, probably already known within the circles(insiders). Tage Thompson is an entitled brat not very well liked within the room. - Ragenpain

Congratulations he had one game where the Sabres were at 50% for either shots or scoring chances while he was on the ice - OneKaneOneCup
But, again, against a guy who scored over 1.5 points per game, he essentially held serve.
You act like % of shots or scoring chances matter an iota when the sample size has way too much variance to make any sort of difference. If the games were 1,000 minutes long and there were 100,000 games in a season, sure, those stats might hold up over the long run.

Kucherov literally doubled his scoring chances per game against us.
In the 2-1 SO game he hit a crossbar and missed a wide open net in the third.
Watch the video. Then you might understand why your precious stats are pretty much useless as a baseline for anything in hockey. - Wetbandit1
I mean, you’re absolutely right.
Because a puck went an inch too high, on 1 of *10* (frank)ing scoring chances Kucherov had in 1, game, which put him under his “average” for PPG, that actually means Ristolainen played good defense against him.
