Context ....when did they sign ...% of cap ....how many years did they sign for ...and the fact that his contract kicks in next year.

His cap% works out to about 8.5% ...similar to Monohan, Saad, Nylander, Nugent-Hopkins .......etc.

- The Law

Probably the closest comparable are Pastrnak and Monahan in terms of percentage and age at time of signing. Not sure Keller is even close to either of them.

Bingo! ...you have good takes sometimes but this take I refer to as "Brian Burke'ing". Pick an emotional (yet completely out of context) angle and run with it.

Lol this was done tongue in cheek. The list is quite obviously going to expand dramatically in the next month or so.

Fair enough ....

It's going to get the moaning masses going. Undoubtedly someone is going to declare that MM should get 14.3 per year because he got twice as many points last year.

...probably Dreger.

timo meier $6x4. 36 and 66 points

keller $7.1x8. 65 and 47 points.

but keller is a year younger and his deal doesn't kick-in for a year.

Funny Keller got 7.15AAV contract -
I suggested last season to trade Nylander for Keller straight up (getting the better player in Keller and not having to give away a 1st to trade away Marleau due to the extra capspace).

Nuge was a year younger and got .6% more, Saad a year older and .5% less.

Pasta and Monahan were the same age and within .2%

I heard Chayka agreed and it was a done deal.

But then (frank)ing Dubas came in and ruined it! Preventing Max from saving the Leafs again!

no - because the experts on here were saying that:
1/ Nylander is a much better player than Keller
2/ Keller would get a much higher AAV on his next contract (vs Nylander's AAV)

Sure, and expectation is Keller will get better, but he didn't last year, and that's notable.

Year over year he had the same number of minutes, but fewer shots, shot attempts, points, and a negative corsi rating in both full seasons (granted, he was positive relative to his teammates).

He was a bit unlucky, but even if his shooting percentage was where it should have been it still would have only been about 20 goals.

Keller belongs in that Draisaitl - Aho group for sure, and is way better than Weinlander.

I dispute your numbers. I think CF is using this years cap for Keller ...which would assume it doesn't go up at all ...which is an assumption that goes against the norm. Presume (I'm sure the agent and the team did) another similar bump to last years and he's at 8.4% or 8.5% and he's closer to Saad.

Pasta has already chimed in to the world about how he knows he was underpaid.

I'm not sure Monohan is that much better than Keller ....similar ballpark to all those next tier of guys.

I can't remember who said it but I heard that Chayka is a wonderkid GM who is doing an excellent job and Dubas is screwing everything up and is incapable of doing even one thing correctly.

Who could it have been....

Sounds like you were speaking to only two people ..

1. Nylander's Dad; and
2. Keller's Mom.
