Holy (frank), man.
How many times do you need to be told that Marner's camp was adamant on being the last to sign. They were NOT gonna sign before the other two.
Also, glad to see you're still awful at evaluating players that you don't personally like. - GreatGigInTheSky
you realise that that statement was made when Marner's contract wasn't done before start training camp last season?
he was willing to sign before training camp - when Dubas didn't give him the right offer, he said he'd wait until this off-season, and wanted to be last of the three to sign. |

Who are weak links at their respective positions? - BINGO!
Luckily one will almost never play and the other will (should) be knocked down to the 3rd pairing once Dermott is back and healthy. |

I got a better idea.
Vote him on an island and leave him there. |

I know the odds do not favor Montreal.
But they were 4 points back of the Leafs last season.
The difference between making the playoffs and missing them is ridiculously small. - Scabeh
My concern from a Montreal standpoint was that they radically exceeded expectations and some guys way over-performed expectations.
It is tough to tell what they will look like this year. A Price or Weber in jury could still be pretty devastating. |

Connor McDavid was going first without question and the Leafs had the best odds
No they didn't. They only had the best odds 1 time, when they retained 20% chance of drafting Matthews |

Rumours of a Marner bridge deal for around 9 mill for 2-3 years can’t be true right?
Not trolling here, honestly asking, no leaf fan can think this is a good deal right?
I honestly hope some GM’s around the league have the balls to not cave and actually let a player sit out the whole year rather than give them a deal that pays them more or at least close to what they would get on a long term deal but give it to them on a bridge.
I’m a jets fan and hope Chevy lets Laine and Connor sit the whole year rather than cave and over pay. Let’s see what Roslovic and Vesalainen can do in their spots. - Ross77
I don't think anyone would be surprised by something that ridiculous, and no, I don't think anyone would be happy with it either.

Babcock, his use of his best players in game 7 is not defendable. |

I know which one should be poop-canned first.
And Marner should've done it a while ago. |

Marner CANNOT hold out. Leafs HAVE to sign him. If he holds out, the first year of the contract goes up Cap-wise. (pro-rated)....The Leafs simply have no space to fit in an inflated contract THIS year. Marner will sign in training camp or during the first week of the season....if it goes longer....it is desperate times!!!! - hawk35
Because of how the cap works as the season progresses, I think there is a real chance he is traded if he is unsigned towards the end of camp.

Dubas - " Hi Mitch, Training camp is close and we would like to get you signed"
Mitch - "Talk to my agent"
Dubas - " We are sending over 3 options for you, 1) 3 years x 8mil or 2) 6 years 10 mil 3) Have a nice vacation and we will talk again next summer...We will give you to the start of training camp to let us know which way you want to go."
Mitch - "I have to ask my Dad if that is ok."

While some player might see a drop in productions, the young players improving should compensate.
I expect a similar season as last year, hopefully with a better ending. |
