Benning said today he is very confident Brock will be signed before camp. He also said he has heard from multiple people Goldy has put in a lot of work this summer . I see if as a prove it signing , nothing more to me.

I think their will be a lot of battles at camp and Goldy will be one of them.

$900K on a one year deal seems like an odd amount to sign for after having had an entire summer to negotiate a new contract. What was Goldobin's qualifying offer?

I believe it would've been 945K.

Compared to some other guys coming off ELCs with similar points from last year like Kempe, Beauvillier, Barbashev and Ericsson Ek all those guys got between 1.4 and 2mil. So 900K is a steal of a deal IMO

Green in an interview was talking about Petey and what he liked about him was that he was able to play in all 3 zones. That is what Goldy has to show to stay in a Green line-up.

Makes me wonder if they were hesitant to sign him at all and have now decided to since Boeser contract talks haven't progressed. They now have a temp replacement in case Brock isn't signed in time for the start of the year.

My other conspiracy theory is that they now consider Baertschi to be too much of a liability and want to replace him with Goldy.

Either way I don't see how to fit all our forwards into a 12 man roster, there's going to need to be a trade or 2 coming soon.

I don't think they have any specific plans for him. Just didn't wanted to lose him for nothing, unlike Hutton. However they obviously didn't value him enough to tie up any extra cap space with him.

Schaller, Ericksson and Biega/Fantenberg will likely be on waivers to Utica. Gaudette will be headed there too, with Roussel on LTIR. If they go with 7 D until the first wave of injuries hits, they should be able to hang onto their glut of marginal forwards.

He’s really IMO only suited to play top 3 here. Our 2nd line is horse blinders north/south with zero possession/spacing - not a cerebral hockey friendly line at all. 🥩 and 🥔 offensive mindset.

He’s 21 & weighs less than Sutter’s yoga teacher. Of course he’s going to be primarily a perimeter guy ‘til he’s fully acclimated to the speed & physicality of the league. By 24 he’ll be scoring near a point per game & that contract will be an absolute bargain.
