Pominville wasn't playing for a powerhouse his whole career though.

And from what I saw last season, he's got a little more left in him than Marleau.

- Scabeh

Marleau can still play second PP and 3rd line minutes. The problem is that if you have him doing that and at the money he'll want (lets say 3mil?) then your organization has way worse issues because you don't have a young player that can do that same job.

I'm saying Marleau did lose his C on a team that did the same to another Hall of Famer in Thronton showing it wasn't unprecedented for the franchise and I then suggested in a direct comparison to Pommenville, which this is, he is likely the more accomplished leader...while it doesn't mean much I'm not sure how it's hard to follow
- Takemedrunkimhome

There is absolutely nothing to back this. A carreer of playoff underachieving and being stripped of a C by the team who drafted him.

He scores against us every time we play them (and by them, I mean any team he's on). Having him on the team, or in the press box makes sense, if only to keep him off the score sheet.

Kinda like Erik Cole?

We should also trade for Pageau then.

Max Domi has never made the playoffs in his carreer right?
- MortChicken

What's your point? I'm not sure you're following this comparison of Pommenville and Marleau correctly

San Jose is the only team that does that to Takemedrunkimhome's point.

He's a (frank)ing Hall of Famer...if he underachieved in his career and still became a Hall of Famer (which he absolutely will be) then I'm not sure what you're upset about in this statement. Pommenville will never scratch that surface

Well...Lecavalier amongst others...but I think you'd agree it's not incredibly common let alone for a franchise to do it multiple times

No problem with that. Of course, Pommer wouldn't require a trade. You understand the difference, right?

It would make no sense whatsoever to sign either Marleau or Pominville the way I see it. We have veteran leadership a plenty and neither of those guys have won the Cup have they? Besides, that's not really relevant. Both Price and Weber have won plenty on the international scene and Price has won at every level but the Stanley Cup. I think the same receipe applies to winning in the NHL as it does for Team Canada or the Calder cup. Keep the money and the ice time for youngsters
