Agreed. Leddy’s decision making sucked. Way to apprehensive with the puck. Every player on the ice and fan in the seats knew where the puck was going when he had it. Great at getting it into the zone but that’s where his usefulness stopped on the pp imo. - Cptmjl
Great zone entry guy no one can argue that and without that on the PP your dead.
Honestly though don’t you think the whole PP as a unit of 5 was predictable and myopic? Not much movement with or without the puck which in turn made all 5 guilty of what your blaming Leddy for? I mean even a creative player like Barzal didn’t stick out or create much on the PP.
I would like to see how much of an impact Hiller has on the PP this year. If they can get that PP going it will make a huge difference and should improve the team overall because of it. |

You make a good point. It was the pp as an entirety pretty much. With that said Leddy on the point was pretty noticeably terrible at times but maybe that was a product of the pp itself? I will say he doesn’t seem to move the puck so great in the zone once there like I mentioned earlier but I guess it’s kind of a wait and see thing under Hiller and hopefully it’ll work itself out. |

For me the whole PP was stagnant and predictable.
That said I hope Hiller can do for the PP what Trotz and co. have done for the defensive game and goaltending.
If their PP is just middle of the road it could make a huge difference in their overall record if the D and GT stay the same as last year imho. |

Yeah they will be improved with a better pp but I think you also have to factor in a much improved metro division. How much of an improvement points wise a better pp will have remains to be seen. Two teams that weren’t competitive last season are looking to be most likely improved(on paper of course but that’s what we got right now). My point being yeah an improved pp is much needed but we’re going to have to improve some other things to remain competitive within the metro. Having a middle of the road pp, same D, and same goaltending as last season may not be enough to compete in our division imo. |

Good points about the metro but IMO if the Islanders D and GT can be as stingy as last year and they can find a bit more scoring I’ll take it and I think it will put them in the POs for sure.
We have to wait and see what happens when they play the games of course and I’m more than ready to see the season start ! |

Leddy was used for zone entry but once he was there he seemed pretty ineffective. Not sure what his pp numbers were? - Cptmjl

Agreed, over the Cap now so they need to move some pieces. |

The PP has been weak for years. Hopefully that will change. Leddy wasn't the only problem but how do you have ZERO goals as the PP1 unit? The good news is the isles have some real talent with Dobson and Wilde. |

Because he's typically the set up Guy.
Barzal had 3 PPG. The PP sucked and 1 guy isn't going to make it great. It takes the group to be in sync and move as a unit, and quite honestly it was anything but. Hopefully Hiller can come in and get the PP going.
Hell it can't be any worse than the Gomez Follies we had. |

Gomez was absolutely the problem. I honestly cant see it being any worse than years past. I do however think with the emergence of Devon Toews last year, he should be on PP1 (not Leddy). |

Well with the growth we have seen in Toews, and having Pulock and Leddy and also the addition of Brassard, Hiller has a few more options and its all about the 5 on PP1 and the 5 on PP2 knowing and playing/coming together,
Going to be interesting to see the Hiller effect. |

There's no doubt Hiller will improve this PP. Brassard is also a welcomed addition. I still wanna see top 6 help. |

Gonna have to get pretty creative to squeeze anyone else into the top 6. As of now we're probably looking at:
Beau-Barzal-Eberle
Lee-Nelson-Bailey
Ladd-Brassard-Komarov
Martin-Casey-Clutterbuck
MDC
Swoontoggle
Komarov and Ladd are probably impossible-to-move deals unless we're adding pieces and I'm not so sure that would be the best route to take. Otherwise, I suppose you could dangle Bailey out there since he's got no trade protection. I'm honestly not sure what he'd be worth though. |
