Adam Boqvist just hit the post but still wanted to attack and leaf slide in and took it away....but...that is the payment that comes with attacking defenders....

Surprised how much time and space the Leafs are giving Boqvist especially on that last shift of his. He had two primo chances to just walk in and take his time with a shot.

That big Justin Brazeau scored 60 goals in regular season for North Bay OHA...and went undrafted due to his feet and then signed a 2 yr m nor pro contract with Marlies...his feet look improving

I love his speed, hustle, and puck pursuit but wish Hagel would rush up the middle like Soderlund does. Hagel has gotten stymied many times taking it down along the boards.

Kusharev much more noticeable this game. Boqvist is definitely active, not afraid to shoot. Would like to see more out of Dach however.

Dach was playing high at the left point on the two PPs.

Last night I think he was down low left of the net.

Good to see Teply on the top line with Dach and Hagel instead of McKay in the 3rd period. Hopefully this will jump start his game to get him more touches and engagement.

Nice goal by Kurashev. Drove hard from the circle to receive a pass continuing to the crease and pulled the goalie out for a wide open net.

Overrall great game by Kurashev on both sides of the puck. Not a perimeter player by any means. Same with Soderlund as well as Hagel for the most part except for his zone entries.

As we learned the last couple years and did today, you are only as good as your net minder can make saves...

They actually looked better today but this goaltender is not having a good game. Leafs goalie is.

After our second game at Traverse City plus the rookies camp last month, we can see tangible results in that many prospects are, indeed, the genuine prospects we thought they were. The notion that a Kuraseav or Hagel could earn a roster spot may be less likely to happen but we are encouraged by them as work in progress.

On the other hand we see Boqvist, Dach as maybe and let us see them in more games. I don't know if they may earn a nine game nhl trial. Wiz provides his analysis and we get a tad bit giddy over this new talent. But just like Soderland today, we need to see more and especially in the exhibition season.

I know that Kyrs and Beaudoin also have a good report card so far, but we can't really read too much into merely two games.

I actually now view this Traverse City Tournament as a steppong stone to gain confidance for the aforementiined as they next show their ware in the exhibition season. Meanwhile you know the coaches and management takes notes and then provide the prospects with things they would like to see the players work on. Next rookies camp and next Traverse City 2020 hopefully we see improved edition in the prospects

That is my 20 20 vision in year 2019. Next year looms as ever more promising as the players development reaches a new level. Can't wait hardly to see all these prospects improve. 20 20 vision in year 2020 eh!

I couldn't watch the game last night, so thanks for the insights from everyone. If dach played as good as everyone says he did, then i agree that he should stay up, as he is far above even the better Junior players, and leaving him in Juniors is not going to develop him any further... It would be a waste of a year.
- ToewsdNKanefusd

Agreed. Hawks aren't wasting a year so he can dominate in juniors. He is the x factor that is going to cause match up nightmares for other teams. Having a guy of his caliber in our lineup makes us a contender again. Without him not at all. Pretty sure the Hawks want to win now and think he can handle 15 minutes a night. He has all the tools and the heart

Dach a difference msker betwrrn makingmakingplayoffs playoffs or not....is this what you are saying. By season end Dach could be an impact playet but your claim is placing way too much responsibility on the kid.

The new system and elevated play by the dmen is surely greater than Dach alone in terms of making a difference.

I really feel like one more power forward type in top six plus some of these kids graduatevto NHL - kids like Entwhistle, Re Johnson, Kurasaev, Hagel, Soderlund will make us as the better team in our bottom lines. There is a hungry bunch of skill speed toughness present with these kids. Barrett is the yapper skill guy whom could land on a bottom line too but he needs to improve his skating and probably a year AHL ( meaning two years away).

I won"t say that Dach will not have a big influence.one day but not so quick. And there are other factors as i pointed out. There is going.to be a turnover in the dman ranks as well.. Lots of good changes coming. But in incremental steps.

I respectfully disagree but we will see. I think he can handle 15 minutes a night as a third line center in the NHL this year. I'm basing it off of Kotkaniemi doing it last year with success for Montreal. Dach is probably a better player as well from the sounds of it. I don't think the Hawks are a contender for the Cup without 3 good centers and he is that center. I'm not worried about him losing confidence and being a bust because of forcing him in over his head. Let the horse run. He was made for this situation. He's not a kid like people always say about young guys. He's going on 19, probably been living away from home and working his ass off for many years already; in extremely high pressure situations. I want him in, I want to win now, I'm looking forward to watching his progress and seeing other teams try to stop 3 awesome lines every night which they won't be able to do. All he has to do is worry about his line and his shifts. He doesn't need to worry about carrying a team to the Cup as a rookie. We have Toews Seabrook and Keith and Kane that are word class competitors. The sooner he gets his confidence to play on this team the better IMO. We will see soon. Going to be very interesting and I'm expecting to be very happy

Well they might use options in the dot, but I see no reason why he doesn't stay in the middle because he can cover ground and defend. He is like a big defender and forward hybrid...and any worry about him being abused...well the DUB (WHL) is THE roughest Canadian junior league and they came after Dach all year.and playoff. Any he gives back...he has NEVER been a uninvolved player, so I bet he would be ok.
(Maybe McKay his junior wing enforcer IS there NOW as a safety....but if you worry Dach gets eaten up in the bigs play him with Zach Smith...)

Ig he doesn't fit with Hawks now and he is viewed as a part time press box guy, you send him back...I just do not see any indication he cannot play...unless today we see an entirely different kid playing in aback to back...but I always felt he was the real deal...

That is an option, and a good one...I wouldn't mind that.

BUT....I envision a line of Saad-Dach-Shaw if Dach stays up. I think with 2 gritty guys like Shaw and Saad, Dach would not be bothered too much. And the speed and scoring touch of all three make this a real tough 3rd line matchup for virtually every team. But, I am sure there will be a lot of juggling......depending on who lands the 2 wing spots along-side the top two line duos (Toews-Kane, Strome- D'Cat)

If dach makes it which i think he will and his high hockey IQ and 2way game be perfect in 3rd line center role. Where hawks coaching shelter and monitor his minutes.
Caggulia Toews Kane
Dcat strome shaw
Saad dach Perlini
Smith kampf carpenter
Kubalik x
Keith Seabrook
Matta Murphy
Dehann gusterson
Koko x
Lehner
Crawford
Not a bad line up. Play-off calibre yes contender just got to get in and anything can happen.

Yeah - let’s rely on an 18 year old with no experience playing with “men” to lead them to contention.

I saw good things from him in the two games this weekend - but not domination, not (other than his height) head and shoulders above the other 18/19 year olds out there.

Too bad he can’t go to Rockford - maybe he sticks in the Show because there would be little left for him to accomplish -or learn - in Saskatoon.

But expect as many gaffs as good plays from him in Chicago.

To me this is year 3 of the mini rebuild/ cap restructure, many good things on paper this year. If Dach or Boqvist aren't ready this year, that's fine, but they are right there in terms of being an NHL player.

Due to salary cap restraints for many teams, hasn't the NHL in a way become a developmental league?

Hey Wiz, reading an article this weekend which i can't find right now, but a writer has really liked Mobergs play and really wishes the Blackhawks had him signed to a contract.
