Would Boyle take a PTO to compete for the Goats spot? - DrunkenCanuck
Maybe. Canes had reached out to him as a potential Williams replacement. not sure how far that got. I'm sure he'd like a job. |

Who replaced Zaitsev and Hainsey? - walshyleafsfan
gardiner was the best offensive defenseman on the team, 2nd best offensive defenseman when reilly moved ahead of him, therefore barrie is replacing gardiner's production.
hainsey and zaitsev are being replaced by the other scraps the leafs picked up in ceci, schmaltz, harpur and the scraps that already existed in holl and marincin |

kerfoot produces on the PP. Brown was useless.
kerfoot also has a reputation for being defensively responsible which is backed up the numbers.
moore will be a fine replacement for the 12 invisible minutes brown played a game.

Connor Brown actually killed penalties though. Kerfoot has like 4 minutes of total career PK time.
Also, if you take away Kerfoot's PP goals and points, they're almost identical to Brown's numbers.
And considering the Leafs already have Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Johnsson, Kapanen and Tavares, the odds of Kerfoot getting any quality PP time and putting up the same PP numbers is pretty low.
Is Kerfoot better than Brown? Maybe. But is he worth the extra 1.4 million in salary to be a 3rd liner? I'm not sure. - JohnFergusonJr
leafs often use 4 forwards on the pp.

Blah, blah...something something...blah...now that Jake isn't a Leaf he's fu3king amazing....HOF!!!
Blah, blah...something something...now that Barrie is a Leaf he fu3king sucks!!!
Same poop with some of these people.
Jake was shiite and Jake wanted too much money from the Leafs...at the very least expected a raise. It took all this time for his agent to realize he would be lucky to get an offer from any team...back injury adding to his shiite play...Carolina stepped up for some reason with less money than last year...so he took it.
Our right side was our weak spot...not Gardiner's side which is left and filled...
Rielly
Muzzin
Dermott
...two currently way better, one getting really close.
Kadri was a really good trade chip and responsible for the same poop twice...which cost the team both Boston series losses.
Dubas found a deal to shore up the RD side, add a 3C and clean out some poop that was dragging the team down.
Dubas made the deal. We are better for it. Suck it up.
PS, IT IS VERY WELL KNOWN THE LEAFS WERE WEAK ON THE RIGHT SIDE. TEAMS FOCUSED ON THAT....TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THAT. PROBLEM FIXED.

I liked Brown but that was the price of cutting Zaitsev loose. I never hated Gardiner but if his back is sketchy and he wanted a multi year deal yeah no, cap crunch. I always liked Kadri but I also like Barrie and you have to do some tough depth shuffling under the cap. Because we have a young superstar core, good problems to have. |

Both teams could use his leadership, grit, toughness and size. Surprised Holland doesn’t want him on the Coilers. |

sens won't have a 50 point forward.
expecting a career season from brown while playing on the team likely to be last in goal scoring is a pretty big stretch. |

This sums it up. Brown can’t play Center and leafs need a 3C. They don’t want nylander playing Center and probably want him back on Matthews line. So instead of paying a 4th line wing 2.1 they’re paying 3.5 for 3C. Which is cheaper then kadri.

kerfoot replaces kadri for cheaper on the 3rd line. if kerfoot is too expensive, than kadri was way over-priced.
brown was too expensive for the 4th liner. plenty of cheaper options to kill penalties. that's a job for some plug being paid the league minimum. |

do you not remember when the leafs last had a team like that? and then toronto fans were pleasantly surprised by the production of the leaf forwards. you know back in the kulemin grabovski macarthur kessel lupul bozak versteeg days?
the sens still have bobby ryan, artem anisimov, mikkel boedker, tyler ennis, anthony duclair, brady tkachuk, colin white, chris tierney in addition to connor brown. |

By years end wee will know which Brown was legit, the 20 goal guy or the 4th liner. He will get to play in all situations in Ottawa and still remain a solid defensive player. My guess is he will be somewhere in the 40 point range. |

Just stopped in to say that as much as I despised Retardiner... I did enjoy Gardinorr when he played well. Maybe the most polarizing Leaf of the last decade.
Good luck Jake.
Good job not bringing him back Dubas. |

It's not totally out of the realm of possibility. It will depend on how he is used, and opportunities he gets. |
