To be very clear...
I'm NOT advocating for any demise for Botts as GM.
He has done way more that I thought he could as far as bringing in new, young talent.
The future is much brighter for the organization...just 1 year away.
He has earned the right, IMO to see this through, no matter the results this year.
We disagree there.
However, there is a logjam of old vets who likely get their same jobs due purely to financial considerations/obligations. That flies in the face of Competition For Jobs this season.
That reality may become very disconcerting for guys like:
Asplund
Routsolainen
Jokiharju
Borgen
And another or two.
Glad to see the increased competition no doubt.
They need to manage it appropriately.
Can Botts package say Sheary with Risto in any trade to open up a couple of spaces. - IonSabres
If we get rid of vets, then the kids in Rochester know they have a job waiting for them. Botts is still cleaning out Murray's garage. He needed to sign the Lockport twins to a 1 year contract to feign compitition. Even though the bottom 6/4th line should always be filled by the most competent graduating
players from the minor league team. Botts had no one on the NHL team to pose a competitive threat to the rochester players. Im thinking we will have a proper competitive system in 2020, where the best players take a role from someone on the NHL team if they're cheaper and just as good or better...

Yeah that’s absolutely ridiculous. Everyone in q3 should go to the back of the grid for that bullpoop. - TheHank
Hamilton blamed Ferrari, somehow, when it was Hulk and Sainz side-by-side going like 30mph, not allowing anyone to pass. I don't know how they avoided penalties; especially after they both admitted to driving intentionally slowly on the out lap, and Hulk clearly blew the corner so he didn't have to be first. And on top of all that, they were all warned not to go slower than as if there was a safety car. Total joke.
IDK if you saw the F3 crash, but it was crazy, dude just got launched, almost cleared the catch fence:

I can’t figure out why they were side by side in the first place. if they didnt want to lead the tow, let someone by. It looked like the ferraris were trying to pass them early in the out lap but couldn’t. Bullpoop.

It was really Hulk's fault because he came out of the runoff right next to Sainz effectively blocking the track, and neither one wanted to be first so they slowed it right down.

Even when Lockport Larry is off the roster, promise that the name will live on. The 12th or 13th, should be 14th, forward will always be called Lockport Larry. I don't ask for much, and I haven't lived in Buffalo (suburbs) since I was 9, but still, that name is classic

Ahh, I always wondered why you pop in so often and aren't a troll.

My love and knowledge of hockey eminates from Buffalo. Without that love of the game I wouldn't have adopted the Florida Panthers when they brought the greatest game on Earth to S FL, and ended my long exile from hockey. Moved here shortly before the Miracle in Lake Placid, there was hardly a mention of non-miracle hockey here pre LA Gretzky. I am still a Sabres fan, although the Panthers are my now favorite team. I don't even mind that my older bro calls me a traitor, lol idgaf.
When it comes to football, No matter how long I've lived here, I will always say, Squish the fish!...And (frank) New England, too.

I lived at okachobee and north military trail, bought a moped off Craigslist and got soo much lady liquid on my sheets.
I feel like the Jets are gonna win this one today. First of all, it's an away game. Then they have Darnold, the better QB - plus they have one of the best RB's in the league. Our D is pretty decent, but I just have this feeling they're going to pass and run all over us today - just a hunch. And then you have Gregg Williams blitzing like crazy against Josh Allen, who will be inaccurate all day long when pressured (and even when not pressured !). Maybe Allen can quiet their D down with his constant running, plus dinking and dunking - we'll see.

I didn't watch the game last night, but happy for my man Matej Pekar in netting 2, and Goalofsson getting another.
Pekar is going to be a beast for this team in the future, maybe as early as next season.
No, I don't expect him to be potting 30G's ...but 15 or so with that agitating style he plays will be fun to watch for years. I'd love to see another gritty forward with some decent talent brought in to lend some more truculence into the lineup while being able to also provide additional production.
In thinking about next season when more positions open up from the UFA's to be cut loose, I wonder if Botts has a serious conversation with Okposo and offers him the Molson package to free up another roster spot.

Yeah from what I saw he looked a lot better than Friday’s game. Which he was just rusty. That is fine. No issues at all with that.

I do think it is an interesting game, and both teams provide challenges for the other.
Either team could win it.
Your case for the Jets is reasonable, at least to me anyway.
That said, Bufalo now has enough talent across the board to win as well, and the Jets LB and DB positions are not their strengths...so William's will need to pressure Josh for sure...which brings with it good opportunities in and of itself. Can Josh use his legs to escape pressure and extend plays? Can Dabold dial-up enough RPO's and Screens to diffuse William's blitzs? Can Beasly and Yeldon be his comfort cushion an make Williams pay with short passes and decent YAC? Can Gore and Singletary provide enough of a running threat to keep the D honest?
What about Oliver, Edmund, Hughes, Lawson, Murphy providing enough pressure to rattle a young Darnold...make that kid move and hurry his throws. Can our DB's and Saftey's give the line that extra time to get after Darnold...can they cause a couple of turnovers?
I like that Dabold creates customized, team specific game plans to take advantage of an opponents weaknesses and play to Bill's corresponding strengths. Frazier and McDermott are very solid on the D side as well.

I also think it would take a 10 minute phone call to move Girgensons or Larsson as well even if it’s for a 6th or 7th round pick as a team would value their experience for depth. I would think they would both be claimed if placed on waivers. Even though Rochester is at the vet limit I’m sure Sobotka would opt for Europe and other vets could be loaned to other AHL clubs (Moulson as an example).

September football is always sloppy. The team that executes the best will win, not necessarily the most talented team. Every September we always here how the Pats are finally showing fragility and then by February they are winning another Super Bowl or in contention for it.

Ya, and moreso now than previously as some teams aren't even using the 3rd preseason game as a tune up, preferring to keep starters healthy.
That game Thurdsday was virtually unwatchable unless you were a diehard Packers or Bears fan.

Very possible it happens ..... asplund could make the team and knock one of them out
