Raiders are playing inspired. Last home opener. The boys in the trenches need to figure it out. As bad as it’s been it’s not over. |

4 turnovers in the first half, on the road
some of them flukes
d was strong the entire game
darnolds yards per attempt was brutal
team feels comfortable enough with allen to start out with 18 straight pass plays on the road
john brown is 9th in yards for wr
singletry touches the ball 9 times and gets 98 yards
zay jones didn't drop a pass
bills down 13 in the 4th and win the game
If I am a bills fan, I feel really good right now
better then cleveland fans, steeler fans, jaguar fans (all had playoff hopes)
only team in the afc that impressed me with a loss was bengals - homiedclown
Although they are not good enough I was shocked with the Colts. If their kicker didn’t suck in that game they would have won. I think Adam needs to retire but I’m sure he will get several more chances considering his career |

This is more significant than it sounds.
"I think we've shown in the past, it hasn't been lip service," Botterill said. "It's been with our actions. If players knock out veteran players, they're going to have the opportunity to be here. That's what we're going to be looking for."
I don't recall another year where Botterill was serious about demoting veterans if they were outplayed. There's a real chance at least 2 of these roster guys get the boot. |

Anyone who saw Nylander last preseason would disagree
He was better than half the Sabres forwards |

I'd say there's a difference between being ready, skill wise, and being ready to compete every single night. I'm not saying you're wrong, really, just saying, would he have performed better than Skinner, Sheary, Reinhart and Pommer/Okposo? Our *cough* top 6 wingers? Cause that's his only use. |

But if Ruotsalainen has a better camp than Okposo, they'll waive Okposo? I very much doubt that |

You're keeping your best 13 players based on positional depth. Olofsson is certainly better than Girgensons, but if he can't play PK and defensive minutes, he's not going to replace him. Just examples like that. If any veterans are replaced, those AHL kids need to be able to replicate their roles. |

I'll bet you 100 internet dollars that if Ruotsalainen or Asplund have more goals and points than Okposo during the preseason, they won't make the team over him. He doesn't PK and they dont need him on the PP anymore, so it should be a fair fight |

Goals and points during pre-season seem like a bad way to decide whether to waive a guy or not.
I’m all for waiving players, but guys like Ruostolainen have never played a second of North American hockey.
For all we know he’s as useless as Sobotka.
It’s my hope that he plays well in preseason and they tell him if he sticks around he’s the first call up or the 13th forward
Botts doesn’t take guys from overseas and plug them right in the NHL. Almost no team does that truly |

That's what I mean. Botts is saying it's an open competition, but come on. Everyone knows it's not. There's nothing young guys can do to unseat certain vets
Can Lazar beat out Sobotka for the extra forward spot? Sure |

Yeah, I would waive Sobotka and Wilson yesterday. But there’s 0 point in doing that pre-camp.
I think Asplund, Ruostolainen, CJ Smith and Thompson will all be given a shot to make the team out of camp, and I still am pretty confident this team isn’t going into the year with Risto on the roster. |

If Ruostolainen looks incredible he’s going to stay. I doubt that’s the case though. He will probably look like a rookie who’s never played in the NHL.
Lazar is an AHL signing.
Asplund is a legit candidate to earn a spot. Same with Smith/Thompson
I don’t really get what people want? Just to hand spots to guys that we have no clue will be good? |

You're probably right about Okposo specifically. The game isn't solely about points, it's about winning. If the org thinks Okposo can contribute to wins more than player X, then Okposo stays.
Hate on him all you want, but he's a servicable player, light years ahead of several other forwards. |

Yeah let's see camp. I trust Botts won't send every single AHL player back to Rochester because Sobotka wins faceoffs sometimes. |

I know you’re being facetious but I hate that narrative
We had no one waiting to replace these guys last year besides Smith and Olofsson.
The young depth is slowly taking over.
It’s a shame Murray couldn’t hit on a pick with all those second rounders
Could have a lot more bottom 6 depth right now |

I'll disagree heavily on that point, but the Sabres will 100% go with the devil they know over the devil they dont, so he's on the team no matter what his preseason looks like. Botts' comment is GM speak |

Right. Let’s be honest, there’s probably a sub 50% chance CJ Smith is better than a Okposo. And I’m more than ready to move on.
