Ok who’s taking Zacha’s job? Rooney. Boqvist. Coleman. Bastian. McLeod. All play center.
Keep the party rolling.

Those guys aren't going to be as good defensively for sure, but we're transitioning into an offense first kind of team so is that even the worst thing? |

Hall-Hischier-Bratt
Gusev-Hughes-Palmieri
Boqvist-Zajac-Simmonds
Wood-Coleman-Hayden/Bastian
McLeod, Anderson, Rooney
Zacha has literally zero leverage. The KHL talk seems like a Hail Mary by Zachas agent to get some extra $$$. Not going to work.

Totally agree but I’d like to see Wood—Zacha-Coleman on the 4th line. |

On the plus side, I'd rather have Hischier-Zacha over Patrick-Provorov...
Some buzz going around that Zacha is going to sign today at 2.33m/y * 3 in NJ, so Stefan might have accidentally detonated some TNT he was trying to set up. If this is the number, it's a good deal for both sides.

Wood Boquist Bastian 4th line
Would prefer Boquist on the wings but I think he could manage center and played the position a little in the prospect tournament |

As reported here, word from the Czech Republic is Pavel Zacha and NJ are in agreement on an extension. Not official yet, but headed in that direction |

My guess (see page 1) was $2.4M max and probably 2 years. I'd think 3 years is actually better for NJ because Zacha has some upside. IF he breaks out into a 20 goal scorer in addition to his defensive game it would be good value. If he stays what he is you are paying a guy who could play up to 2C if needed; although obviously he's been doing that with mixed results.

Zacha is a good player and all, but wasn't he projected to possibly be 4th line C? There's zero reason to overpay for someone who might not have a meaningful role on the team.
The Devils retain his rights too, so if he ever wants to come back he either has to get traded or sign with them. - 2sticks1puck
He is our 4th C at best. If he were to be traded today, I don't think we could get more than a 3rd based on his play/production. He still could become a good bottom 6 player and is great on the P.K. but whether he stays or leaves won't affect this club too much. Change of scenery trade for Jesse Pulj would be ideal. |

With a good change of scenery, Jesse Puljikarvi can still blow monkeys. I wouldn't trade Pavel for him. Zacha's actually out produced him and is better defensively.
Oilers might want something in return but that guy is worth a 3rd rounder at best also. |

Trade him straight up for Quinn Hughes!
Everybody hated Travis Zajac b/c of his contract vs production until he figured out his role on this team, the posts were seemingly ENDLESS! Pavel Zacha is the new Zajac. He would develop into a 2C on most teams, but our situation is unique. Let him come back, develop on the 3rd/4th lines and on PK. He won't be playing with scrubs. Then trade him next year when his value is higher, get a better ROI. |

Zacha has an NHL game but needs to score 7 more goals to be considered an awesome 3C and shutdown center.
Puljujarvi has no NHL game, is a headcase, refuses to learn English (where PZ came to play in the CHL), and is about a 90% bust at this point, though Holland might talk sense into him. At this point, I don't know whom I'd rather have, Yakupov or Puljujarvi.
Definitely not ideal... |

Yes we can! If Hughes is only worth 4M AAV after his entry-level, I will be disappointed. Tho i am hopeful he will be a 14M guy by that time. |
