It blows my mind how little respect G get's from national media, like 32 is still a solid spot but there is definitely an argument that he should be in the top-20. - HeeroYuy
It still bothers me that Taylor Hall won the Hart over Giroux.
Giroux more points, first year at wing, stellar year following 2 down years, and finally, literally sent the flyers to the playoffs last game of the year against the Rags with a hattrick. |

Success of team. - MJL
Then McDavid and MacKinnon should be...where exactly? How about Kucherov? Wheeler? Laine?
It's about the player in particular. Not the team. |

4th in scoring over the past 10 years, 5th over the past 2 years since moving to wing.
He simply doesn't get the respect...and no one can seem to figure out why. - Hckygoalie31
His beef with Crosby, smacking a cop on his backside and being a ginger. |

And had the ballots been cast after the regular season was over, he may have won. |

I’d offer him the same deal. - BiggE
It certainly would be fine. Good job, Columbus, getting it done for Werenski! Fletcher has said all along that they would be open to a bridge or longer term deal with Provy and TK.
Of McAvoy, Werenski and Provorov, it looked from the beginning that Werenski would have the shortest contract of the three and Provorov the longest. The market value is more for the longer deals so maybe Provy comes down on his ask but does end up higher AAV than Werenski’s 3 years. I am still hoping he goes longer term, but whatever path he chooses, I hope he takes that road this week. Let’s start the season fresh and on time!

I can live with 3 years and 15 million for Provy if that will get a deal done. - BiggE
if provie signs for about the same and tk signs for what most are expecting @4-4.5 mil then our cap seems to be in a good place for now. |

Yeah it is really a shame, those stats are insane. I would like to see where he ranked on a player-voted list, instead of having the list be done by media members. |

Ugh, I forgot all about that and am now sad haha. I could see the media liking the story of "young super-star leads team to playoffs in first year with team" over G rebounding, but if that was the case at all, it kind of ruins the awards system for me. I don't like that media narratives could affect voting, but I could be way off-base in that assumption |

I think you're mistaken if you don't think that success of the team matters for Giroux. Younger players are the new toys with the press behind them. It's political. I guarantee that if the Flyers improve drastically as a team, with Giroux continuing to put up strong numbers, his ranking on that list will improve. |

#32 seems about right for G. There’s a lot of great players on that list. He’s ahead of Taylor hall, tarasenko, drew doughty.
These are some great players |

Yeah, and maybe story-line or popularity driven.

The league has lots of great players. If you took the top 2 players from every team and looked back at their most recent 2 years of play, how many would you trade G’s production for and clearly win the trade? It’s hard with top defensemen and goalies in that mix, but I definitely think he rates higher than 32.

With the substantial , what I feel are positive changes , to this team if all we are is equal to last year then this year is a total failure.
Proven winning coach with experienced assistant coaches
A full year of Hart and a healthy Elliot
Hayes and Nisk are improvements . Braun probably is also but IMO he wasnt necessary though I understand that move.
More youth.
All of that better equate to more than equal to. - opeth_pa
I’ll never assume Elliott to be healthy. |

Exactly. Didn’t Hextall bank on goalies being healthy? When you have an “if” in goal you’re (frank)ed. Plain and simple |

If hart continues to show good progress. If Elliot stays healthy. If if if. Personally I’m looking forward to 2 years from now when hart will have games under his belt and gone through the major adjustment period of nhl and gone through his “lumps”. |

So does Provy's agent go in a different direction, knowing that Werenski set the market on him? Cant see why he would, you have to think with the new team and TV deal coming, 3 years from now will look pretty good. |

Well, the flip side of that is "if" we use less than 8 goalies.......

Provy doesn't strike me as the type that will hold out, he's clearly listening to his agent but at the end of the day the market has now been set and the Flyers will for sure offer him a fair deal. If he is not at camp it is no one's fault but his own. |
