If they were going to bubble wrap these guys for a game, rather them do it in the preseason. These prospect games, the teams are going to respect the other teams prospects. I'm the sure the Wild are not happy about the 5 minute major their guy got yesterday, because no team wants to risk the other team potentially retailiating against guys who may have a future with them at the NHL or AHL levels.

In the preseason you have 20 Michael Haley's competing for jobs and want to get noticed. I think it was you said earlier that his only job might be to protect the prospects if anyone tries something funny. I don't think anyone will do anything, but the potential is higher there.

I am looking forward to that first preseason game. I might try to go to the Friday night game in Newark if the kids are playing though I imagine the stubhub even for that will be pricey. There's always the game in Philly the following day, but Saturday is usually occupied with my son.

Isn't this what chucky Cheese is for? Let him spend 2.5 hours in the ball pit, he will be having so much fun won't even know you are at a hockey game

I think they also want to get a look at some of these other prospects today too though, some final decisions pending for some of these invites, that kind of thing

My son is a constant ball of energy. It's adorable, but every time he wants to go on a slide or something else, he wants to drag me along with him. I'm not the biggest guy in the world, but I'm legit shocked I haven't broken one of the park kiddie slides just sliding down it because he insists I do the slides as well.

I hope Kakko did enough yesterday to earn a training camp invite

I know, and I've never been a big ride guy. At 2 he already takes me on the tea cups that go way up in the air and go back down. He also makes sure that we constantly spin, so I get to be dizzy for a couple minutes after getting off the ride where he has 0 effect.

Katie Strang has a real good column today on Kakko in The Athletic. Here is one quote from a scout:
What’s stands to you?

“His tenacity,” he said. “He’s got high-end skill to go with a high-end level of compete.”

I hear you. My daughter provided me with proof that I can't handle the rides anymore a couple years ago.
We just did Universal Studios last month. I was munching on non-drowsy Gravol for 3 days!
Totally worth it to see the pure joy on her face, though. Easily.

Just wait, sunshine! I used to laugh, but I had to man up and admit to my dad that he was right when he told me to slow down 20+ years ago, taking my body's health for granted. Starting to slow down already and not yet on the other side of 50.

I dont really have a problem with rides as I have gotten older, but everytime I go to the beach I am struck by how much I can't handle waves anymore

I used to love diving under waves and riding them back when I was younger, now I am basically afraid even to go in

I'm still a couple years from the wrong side of 40, I play for awhile and it's harder and harder to try to hide that I can't quite do this anymore.

Years ago, I used to golf weekly with my Father-in-Law and one of his friends who was over 40 years my senior. He gave me some great advice that I still remember today:

"Don't let your brain write checks that your body can no longer cash"
Great advice!

Eh it's more of a pride thing. Although I'm slowly devolving into that, I never wanted to be that guy that would be on the bench "Daddy is going to sit this one out". It's gotten to the point where on the weekends, I'm going to the park and power walking trying to get just a little better in shape. I've always been a really quick walker, still doesn't stop people 40 years older than me leaving me in their dust.

You should've gone in Saturday morning. I got up early and went down to the 4x4 beach by Gilgo to watch everyone surf the Dorian swell

Was playing in a soccer league, on wrong side of forty, running around like a maniac like I used to when I played 5 years ago. Tore my calf muscle half way through the first game. Had to walk with a cane for two weeks, done for season (and career at this point).

Nothing makes you feel older than walking with a cane.
