skinner-eichel-cozens
vesey-casey-reinhart
olofsson-e-rod-johansson
sheary-lockport larry-tage
IMO that is the best 12 up front constructing a roster
you can make a case for dropping e-rod to the 4th line and let asplund or ruotsalainen handle the 3rd line spot but I just can't see an opening night with larry, girgens, okposo and sobotka in the lineup
I'd send all 4 of them to rochester and let lazar be the 13th skater though if I had my way - homiedclown
Olofsson is a shooter. I feel like if he gets pushed too far down the lineup he will be a bottom 6 victim. I could see Cozens get the 9 game Rhinehart treatment, but wouldn't bet my own money he makes the team. Tage isnt going to make the team until he gets better dance moves. Somebody from the bottom 6 is getting waived this camp. probably at least one....

If i had it my way:
Skinner-Eichel-Olofsson
johansson-casey-reinhart
sheary-Routsoleinen/Pekar-vesey
CJ Smith, Asplund, Okposo
Let the kids play.

Yeah, I would waive Sobotka and Wilson yesterday. But there’s 0 point in doing that pre-camp.
I think Asplund, Ruostolainen, CJ Smith and Thompson will all be given a shot to make the team out of camp, and I still am pretty confident this team isn’t going into the year with Risto on the roster. - OneKaneOneCup
I would say the point would be twofold: 1) To stop even contemplating having them on the roster because "they did it the right way" against some undrafted schmucks from Pittsburgh. And B) To give extra time to the young kids instead of having a moping black hole skate around. |

More severe injuries in tennis then baseball , basketball - gerbe75pts
https://www.stanfordchild...jury-statistics-90-P02787
No tennis
Among athletes ages 5 to 14, 28 percent of percent of football players, 25 percent of baseball players, 22 percent of soccer players, 15 percent of basketball players, and 12 percent of softball players were injured while playing their respective sports - https://www.stopsportsinj...13-4970-a47d-ed621dfc7b9b
No tennis there either
https://coachad.com/artic...-to-high-school-athletes/
Almost 3x more kids got hurt horseback riding than playing tennis there. And basketball had the HIGHEST incidence of injury.
Once again, way down the list. About on par with equestrian and modern pentathlon, more archers get hurt, almost as many table tennis players get hurt.
Tennis is not nearly as dangerous as basketball, baseball, hockey, football, gymnastics, cheerleading, etc... A lot of studies I pulled up didn't even bother to study tennis. But soccer, volleyball, and softball/baseball were. |

The six forwards:
Sobotka - zero trade value
Wilson - zero trade value
Larsson - low round pick value at the deadline maybe
Girgensons - nothing to low round pick value at the deadline
Sheary - Possibly a 3rd round pick
Vesey - hopefully back with the club
The four defensemen:
Scandella - zero trade value
Hunwick - Zero trade Value
Nelson - likely resigns
Bogosian - too often injured to have any value, but if he manages to be healthy at the deadline might get you a mid round pick.
There is no real value in that entire group. I doubt he gets much of anything for them. - matty12345

He can still shoot on the PP, but he's too slow to get to scoring areas 5-on-5, and he just cant keep up with the pace of play. I wouldn't play him with Mitts; we need Mittelstadt to produce and Okposo will be a boat anchor for him. Playing him with Eichel would be similar to what Edmonton tried with lucic. Bad idea imo. We at least need one line to score
Best bet is to bury him on the 4th line with larry and girgs and ask him to please stop taking dumb penalties - jcragcrumple
I think you’re being a bit harsh, but o see where you’re coming from
Problem is, Okposo on line 4 puts Sobotka back in the top9... f that |

Just noticed this on Sabres.com
Preseason games-
Pens games (penn state) - streamed online locally
Columbus - streamed online locally
Leaf home / home - msg (sportsnet broadcast)
Columbus - msg
Pens - msg. Pens broadcast.
It’s 2019 and still embarrassing the Sabres can’t get their own broadcast on msg for preseason games. - Sabretooth9
At least we'll be able to watch every game. That's a definite step in the right direction.

Sobotka shouldn't be considered for any position on any line under any circumstances for any reason by any capable NHL mind ever after last year |

I think he’d actually be fine on line4 in a defensive role
Would love to just get rid of him,
but it doesn’t look like that’s gonna happen |

He was by more than one metric the very worst, or a top-5 worst NHL forward last year
He shouldn't be on any team. They are undoubtedly better off by waiving him. And that's not accounting for his attitude |

Good article about Kruegs from Sabres.com. Not sure if it was already posted. I really like everything this guy has to say. I think at a minumum we see much better effort and attitude from everyone. Combine that with the skill we added and maybe this team can play above their overall skill level.

Again, if your biggest complaint is that an old veteran skilled player didn't score enough of his 16 goals from the fourth line, I really think we should have been a playoff team.
The point is he wasn't a problem last year. On a team whose real issues were secondary scoring, team defense, and goaltending, Pominville had the most goals by anyone not named Jack, Sam, or Jeff, was pretty average defensively, and didn't play goal. How he ends up being the only player off this roster is beyond me.
There is no organizational accountability for the players. Blaim Housley sure, but don't forget how many coaches these guys have gone through.
But yeah, Pominville doesn't hit people, so it's all on him. - matty12345
