Forever reader, first post. But the simplest way around blackouts for games that i've found being in socal is using Opera. It's a browser just like google, firefox etc. It has a simple VPN toggle in settings and allows you to simply watch games and so on right from the source. Takes a minute to download and install and it's legit.
Reddit is a good option for sure, but just another simple way to get access. I was able to watch all 3 prospect games from the sabres site, just as you you would living inside the non-blackout area.
Carry on. |

Sobotka. Eichel. Laine. |

Let’s say this laine thing happens. We now have to cut ties with around let’s say 8-10 mil in cap space? Risto is one move that can me made. But you need a few more. Unless you waive Sobotka and/or Okposo a. |

So an interesting thing with these RFA’s is teams can talk contract now, to understand what they would want (because we COULD offer sheet them), enough to know if we would be interested in trading for them.
Yes a few moves would need to happen. Risto ($5.4) for sure (knowing the rough waters). If McCabe is part of the deal then there is some cap too ($2.8), so that is $8.2 and they could find another move I would guess, knowing they take a loss on the deal to move money. |

If the Laine thing happens, I can probably guarantee that I'll be on a street corner shouting obscenities. Positively, of course. |

Just about everyone said that about Larsson & Girgs too
I got A LOT of crap when i said they weren’t as bad as everyone here was saying & they just needed to be used right
IF we are stuck with him...
use him in a defensive role with Larsson & Girgs
He could still suck,
but i think that maybe he could be passable - jdfitz77
No, we know that the Lockport twins are fine in a defensive role. Sobotka simply sucked at every facet of the game. He sucks. There is literally no other way to cut it. He. Sucks. |

Interesting. I only copied the top 4.
Mock re-draft of 2015 If players could be GM.
Eichel drops to 4
CHICAGO – When you talk to NHL players about the loaded 2015 NHL Draft, featuring Connor McDavid at the top, their reaction tends to depend on how it impacted them.
Take, for instance, members of the Boston Bruins. Boston famously had three consecutive picks in the middle of the first that were followed by the selections of Mathew Barzal, Kyle Connor and Thomas Chabot.
“Tough subject,” said Bruins defenseman Torey Krug, laughing.
“How many picks did we have?” Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask asked when 2015 was brought up to him.
Barzal, of course, has a different perspective. Being drafted by the Islanders worked out just fine for him and really, it worked out just fine for many of the players taken in that draft. Four years later, the Class of 2015 is making a huge impact across the league and, in Barzal’s opinion, the draft has the potential for even more.
“This draft is going to be the best of all time. It is,” he said. “Connor McDavid is the best player in the league. Jack Eichel is top 15 in the league. Dylan Strome is just making his mark now. Mitch Marner, (Noah) Hanifin, (Ivan) Provorov, (Zach) Werenski, (Timo) Meier, (Mikko) Rantanen – are you kidding me? It’s insane. (Sebastian) Aho in round two. (Brock) Boeser late. Thomas Chabot is going to be in the Norris conversation soon. Kyle Connor just had 40 goals. It’s crazy.”
It’s also fun to imagine how this draft would play out with the benefit of hindsight. What if it was re-drafted? This isn’t just a thought exercise media or fans indulge, the players do too.
“We’ve played this so many times,” Rask said, when pitched the idea of re-drafting the 2015 first round. So to get an inside perspective, we handed the GM keys to some of the best players in the league at the annual NHL Player Tour, assigning one team in the top 10 to NHL stars and asked them to make their pick.
Your new 2015 NHL GMs:
1. Edmonton Oilers: Tuukka Rask
2. Buffalo Sabres: Patrick Kane
3. Arizona Coyotes: Cale Makar
4. Toronto Maple Leafs: Ben Bishop
5. Carolina Hurricanes: Mathew Barzal
6. New Jersey Devils: Torey Krug
7. Philadelphia Flyers: Ryan O’Reilly
8. Columbus Blue Jackets: Matt Duchene
9. San Jose Sharks: Max Domi
10. Colorado Avalanche: Cam Atkinson
Here are their picks and explanations:
1. Edmonton Oilers
2015 pick: Connor McDavid
Rask’s pick: Connor McDavid.
This is the no-brainer. There is some major shuffling in the top 10 but not at No. 1. McDavid is still the class of this draft and by a lengthy margin. Rask didn’t hesitate in making the pick and even wanted to make more picks since his was so easy.
“McDavid,” he said quickly, as he should. “He’s a franchise guy. Skill. Speed. Scoring. Leadership. Everything.”
2. Buffalo Sabres
2015 pick: Jack Eichel
Kane’s pick: Mathew Barzal

And we’re off. Two picks in and we’ve got our biggest gainer with Barzal jumping from the No. 16 overall pick to the No. 2 overall.
Kane took us through his thought process.
“I like Eichel. I like Strome. Rantanen at 10 (overall in 2015) is pretty good. But I’m really impressed with this guy right here,” Kane said, pointing to Barzal on a computer screen. “I would go Barzal at two.”
Kane recently trained with the Islanders star at the Darryl Belfry skills camp in Florida and came away really impressed. Barzal was a favorite of a lot of the players at the camp who hadn’t spent a lot of time with him up close.
“Just watching the way he skates and the way he plays the game, I think he could be better than me,” Kane said. “I think he could be an unreal player to watch. He’s so good on his edges, being able to bait guys and go around them like it’s nothing. He’s pretty special. I’ll go with him.”
3. Arizona Coyotes
2015 pick: Dylan Strome
Makar’s pick: Mikko Rantanen
When Makar was looking over the 2015 draft board while considering the pick for Arizona, you could see it hit him just how stacked it really was, even with McDavid and Barzal off the board.
“Holy cow, this was a packed draft. Geez,” he said, while thinking it over. “I’m in between Rantanen and Eichel right now.”
Then it becomes obvious. One of these two are going to be his teammate this season in Colorado. That breaks the tie.
“I’m going Rantanen because I have to. I don’t (just) have to, it’s a good pick,” Makar said.
He got a taste of just how talented Rantanen is when Makar joined the Avalanche for the playoffs last spring. Rantanen put up 14 points in 12 games following a regular season in which he averaged 1.18 points per game. Rantanen was taken No. 10 overall in 2015 and that’s incredible value for the Avalanche. No way he’s getting to No. 10 if this draft was held now.
“Seeing such a big guy like that be able to move as fluently as he does, how fast he is in his acceleration, how big he is – it’s incredible,” Makar said of Rantanen. “He has unbelievable vision and puck handling skills as well. I’m interested to see what he can do. He’s definitely a special player.”
4. Toronto Maple Leafs
2015 pick: Mitch Marner
Bishop’s pick: Jack Eichel
Bishop really struggled with this pick, flip-flopping between Marner and Eichel.
“I would take either of them,” Bishop said, while walking through his process.
Ultimately, grabbing the guy who actually went No. 2 overall in 2015 two picks later was more than Bishop could pass up.
“I would say Eichel,” Bishop said. “He has one of the better shots in the league. He has that lankiness that’s hard to read sometimes. At any moment in the game, he can be a game-changer. Once he gets the puck going up the ice, there’s a chance he can score any given time.”
For him, it came down to style of play.
“Marner is kind of different. He’s more of a playmaker, where Eichel can be the difference-maker,” Bishop said. “I’ll take Eichel and I’ll be happy with that.”

Look at any metric - counting stats, advanced stats, eye test. Sobotka is horrible. Here are a few pics
