Swap out Matthews for Bozak and we wouldn’t be paying Nylander $7m either

Has anyone heard about the status of Dermott?

I thought we were expecting a return in November or December, but Kevin McGran's article in the Star yesterday sorta suggests there's a possibility he is ready for opening night.

I think Dubas said the other day they'd be starting the season without him. Shoulder - so he can skate and keep cardio up so should be able to get back pretty quickly.

So marner had 25-30points more because of tavares, but nylander didnt have a similar advantage playing with matthews?

Sign marner - trade nylander.

I'll take that part for granted.

Imagine, taking $2M less per season just to fit a Martin Marincin on the roster.. Marner should be on Legends Row

Love the; "Why do so many people in Toronto think that he'll suddenly forget how to hold his stick if he doesn't have Mitch Marner on his line?" reply

Boston.com has the actual Antonio Brown lawsuit filing up on their site.

Yes, it's only one side of the story, but it does not paint a pretty picture.

There's no good play for the Patriots on this one.

Marner wants 4.5 million more on a similar term deal. These two aren’t even comparable players anymore why does everyone feel the need to bring up Nylander when anyone says something negative about Marner.

There's an article on TSN about his legal team thinking they have evidence that proves the allegations to be false. Or something like that.

But yes, I read the full article on the lawsuit and (frank) me, I hated having daughters in this world after that even more than I did before.

Meh, it's the Patriots.. Goddell will find a way to sweep this under the rug. They will get to keep Brown and get an extra 1st rd draft pick, because they are the Patriots.

I think you give his agent permission to work out a contract with other teams. That'll send the point.
- joel878

This... is the answer.

Let him find a better offer, if he does and it's something the leafs can't stomach... find a decent trade with said team. Problem is I can't really see many trades working out in our favor that doesn't include Seth Jones, or another rfa this year (tkachuk, boeser+, raantonen etc.)

Mitchy needs to step up and do something if he truly wants to remain a leaf. If he doesn't and is of the same mindset at ferris/dad et al... then unfortunately it's time dubas either tells him he's sitting or moving on. In al honesty I think I'd rather see him sit the season and try again next summer... it would be annoying to read about all season/summer long again... but I think we'd get better trade options or even better salary options for him next season... OR we can still trade his rights at the deadline for a team that knows they won't be in the playoffs and starting a rebuild... the odds of another star player being available might be higher at the deadline than the beginning of the year.

Either way... Matthews will be captain, but I'm fine with any of johnnyT, mo, or matty

It's actually just his agent Drew Rosenhaus (who does not have a stellar reputation) saying he believes that Brown's legal team has evidence.

Don't believe a single franking word Rosenhaus says.
