You know what's better than talking about Marner contracts?

Watching this dude on youtube eat 50 year old army rations.

Found my new favourite show.

She said she has emails from him talking about the back jizz. If thats true he could be (frank)ed.
- aminnes

You can see two of the emails on boston.com.

It's not pretty, but it doesn't actually prove anything, and he could argue it fits his narrative that she was just seeking money.

At the very least, it's strong evidence he's a terrible human being.

This really makes me feel good...

...until I remember that Tucker was vastly overpaid, and the Leafs had to buy him out and suffer a cap hit for six years.

Ouchie.

Well teams are welcome to overpay Mitch.

They’ve had 3 months to do so...it’s obvious the rest of the league doesn’t compare him to Matthews.

Just to me, Bob MAC tweeted he was offered 7x11...that’s an overpayment. He really just wants money and it sucks.

JT took 7x11 as a UFA.

It's funny that no team values Marner at $11M.. I think he should have taken that in June when it was offered... Maybe his dad Darren Dreger, has been wrong all along.

To be fair, no team values Marner at $11M PLUS whatever it would take to obtain him in a trade.

It's apples and oranges.

I just am very surprised of the leverage he thinks he has.

He turned down a 11x7 contract he turned down a contract offer where he is being overpaid.

Like (frank), it’s just crazy to me this guy is doing this while JT was underpaid for years and took the same deal as a (frank)ing UFA where all 30 teams wanted a free shot at him.

Idk man, one side leaked this thing about turning down an offer in June and I highly doubt it was Marners camp. The leafs are frustrated...and rightfully so.

Agreed. Dubas should be pissed.. Like WTF? I offered you $11M per year over 7 years and you're saying 'No'

Yeah it just sucks.

We take guys like JT for granted...it’s not all money for him.

It’s poopty that JT has to take less so Marner can be overpaid...I get it’s a business but it’s just poopty for everyone involved.

He already did though. You on't overpay others and then strong-arm the leading scorer.
- aminnes

I agree, he did... in his first summer as a gm after getting the highest sought after Ufa in recent memory. Young gm.. and he's learned from his mistakes. You strong arm anyone who thinks they deserve more than they're worth.

It happens when u hire a first time young gm.. bound to make some mistakes, but as long as he's learning. We wil end up moving nylander to keep improving the team. This season we have the ltir relief from clarkson and Horton, but they come off the books at the end of the year, it will be an even tighter squeeze to build our d with just under 20 million, + resigning our bottom forwards. Willie (or someone) will have to go.

Hopefully the one thing that Dubas learned from Lou is don’t leak. It may make you feel good or think that you’ve got some leverage but a reputation as someone who keeps things to themselves is worth a lot over the course of your career

I would blow Mike’s wiener, and buy him some new clothes for 11 million Canadien dollars and 7 years. Jesus!!! 😳

Marner has turned this into strictly business.

All business tactics are fair game when you turn down an overpayment.

Don’t care what he asked for or turned down in June. He’s running out of time and Dubas has the leverage. Dubas has a number. Mitch can take it or sit or play in Zurich. He has way less bargaining power than Nylander cause the Leafs can’t afford to sign him after the season starts.

I get that but Dubas will have other contracts to negotiate after this one. A rep as someone who leaks will hurt him down the line

Given the circumstances? I very much disagree.

You can let people know when someone is being ridiculously unfair.

Yup. But the issue is, to move Willy, he needs to have a big year.

Dubas has the leverage contract wise, but the team on the ice will be significantly worse.

He not only leaks to much, he talks too much and makes commitments publicly. He needs to STFU. I'm amazed Shanny doesn't rein him in.

in short: Dubas is not fit for the job.
