Not saying young (and big holy (frank)) Brazeau didn't do well here.

But is there a more meaningless tournament than the rookie tournament?

Except the CFL maybe?

- Scabeh

a bad showing kinda just proves if you're not ready / if you will never be in the nhl.

a good showing gets you a little more attention at the real camp.

Dreger was too busy posting a few tweets about the Leafs offering a 3 million over payment and the Marner camp turning it down.
- GreatGigInTheSky

Does Dreger even follow hockey? All he can do is talk about contracts and never gives good info.

Why?

You can make a case for Barzal being #2 on that list.

It's all in good fun anyway.

Really? 'Cause I can't. There's at minimum 4 players after him that I would 100% take before him.

I know it's just for fun and all but it's kinda crazy in my opinion.

We don't really know anything for sure.

I am still guessing that there is just a lot of noise out there and this is really just about holding out until the last possible moment and/or not wanting to go first.

I am betting Marner signs on October 1 for something close to what is being speculated, and it is going to be something absolutely stupid like 8.5/ 9.5 /12.

- Aetherial

I hope that your right but my gut tells me that this is the new trend for these greedy little wieners to hold out for as much as possible, citing their family and future as the reasons. Fans (from whom they harvest all of these billions) can go (frank) themselves the jealous little female doges.
This is a microcosm of the problems with democracy that Tytler had very clearly described for us more than 200 years ago🤦‍♂️

Having said all of this, (frank) greedy little female dog, his dad and the horses they rode in on🤦‍♂️

they can take greedy willi to some other change room where they can jack each other off and score a bunch of points and never win anything 🤦‍♂️

I’ll take some fully grown competitors who can stick up for themselves and there teammates any day of the week 👍🏿

you don’t have to pay 9-11 milly for a magic hand little pencil neck who shrinks in the playoffs like a dead d!ck in winter under a sheet of ice when you can find someone for half the price who will rise to certain occasions

Not that I would take him at that rank but, just for fun.

He's already a #1 centre in the league. I heard they were more valuable than others

Skates and makes plays faster than anyone on that list not named McDavid

Carried (or at least was the best player of) a "bad" team to the playoffs last season, despite losing Tavares which allowed him to thrive on the 2nd line while other team focused on John.

Makes teamates around him better and doesn't need others to produce.

Isn't actually terrible defensively despite being an offensive minded player.

Edit: looking at that list again, good god was that a great draft year.

Mitch needs to get something done soon, if they turned down 11 x 7 ..like wtf

Apart from matthews and mcdavid - the only young player i'd trade marner for in a 1-for-1 deal is Barzal.
Barzal is incredibly good and a tad better than Eichel in my opinion.

I dont think he has really proved he is a #1 Centre. Its funny how much better he looked when JT was there taking the 1st line pairings.

He had 62 points last year. That being said, he is a good young player that I really like.

Could you imagine having 3 picks in that first round? That'd be something.

No sh!t.... He has said he wants to be a Leaf for life, yet he has said no to 7 year/ $77MM contract (plus probably around $20MM PLUS in endorsements).

He is turning down $100MM coming off his ELC.

Trade the little fu@king wiener to a SH!THOLE.

As a Habs fan.

I do hope you trade him away.

He's so goddamn annoying to play against.

Apparently they were offered that in June to.

Jesus, clearly Marner isn't concerned with being a lifetime leaf as much as he is draining every penny he can out of this league while he can.

20 million in endorsements is about 15- 17 million too high.

I choose to look at some of the other picks that I guess even it out. Well, not really even it out, but at least mitigate some of the sting. Carlo in the second round that year was a great pick.

It was. It was.

Despite the obvious failure on that first round, the Bruins overall drafting the last few years is actually very good imo.

Agreed - I wonder if Sweeney transitioning into the GM role that year had any impact on the 1st round that year.

Hmmmm. Not so sure I would.

I look at my career and quality of life has a dollar value to me. I can make far more money than I do working for a company I don't want to work for. I do just fine where I am.

The ability to play for your hometown team and potentially being a part of ending a championship drought would factor in for most...
