Like tomahawk has said before... he’s jay bowmeester. A 22 year old jay bowmeester in today’s nhl is absolutely worth that deal. Its fair value but I’m not doing cartwheels

It's ridiculous to label Provorov as anyone at 22. As if there is already a ceiling on his development.

6.75M per for 6 years sound very fair both for player and club.

Guess ~28 clubs would've signed that deal!

Probably but that's just a number Gander was throwing to Hextall to test the waters. Never a realistic possibility. The 7M salary for Werenski probably helped set the market. I think a similar bridge deal would've been better for Provorov but I'm glad hs signed this deal.

The security of a longer term contract and not needing to return to negotiations in a few years surely played a part in not going with a bridge deal.

Why aren’t you Ecstatic? We’re a better team with Provorov then without?

How is Provorov a comparison to Jay Bowmeester after three season? I don’t see the comparison at all.

I thought a 4 year deal for TK was in the 5.5-5.8 AAV range. If Timo Meier is a comparable than I was possibly a little low. He got 4 year 6 mil AAV.

If anyone here isn’t happy with with Ivan Provorov’s new deal, my question becomes, what are the worst current deals on this team?

I'm much more happy that this is a six year deal rather than 3 year bridge deal. What would have 3 years looked like.. 3x5mil? Now we have provy locked up for 6 years @ 6.75, I'm pumped. Good job Chuck!

They look similar in stats and usage and age. Obviously the Sharks were the better team. On what are you basing “much better”? Did you watch Meier a lot?

I would like to invite all of you to look up Shea Weber, Ryan Suter, Kimmo Timonen, Zdano Chara, Chris Pronger, Eric Desjardins and Duncan Keith’s stats before you continue to be disappointed with Ivan Provorov’s third season, as if the first two seasons never happened.

If they can’t agree to a comfortable 3 or 4 year deal for TK then they need the quicker 1 or 2 year deal. Sign and try again later.

Have a two and half window to Negotiate with a restricted free agent, who the organization already hold the rights to, is a world of difference between a unrestricted free agent, who anyone can talk to and that can player can sign with anyone at anytime.

This is a steal!!! Compared to the A Mac contract. And the talent gap is humongous. Drafted last A Mac never had talent or skill. He must be the most overpaid D-bag in NHL history.

Just so I understand this correctly... Hayes contract is bad because it’s a overpayment, some say a lot some say slight, because of what Hayes has done this far in his career after many seasons and little hope of progress a lot but provys contract is a steal because of what he MIGHT become in the future based on 1 average season 1 ok season and 1 horrible season? Makes zero sense. If you’re a flyers fan and you believe Hayes horrible contract and provy contract is a steal then you either have orange colored glasses on or aren’t too bright. Provys contract is livable at best. Just because he was played as #1 dman minutes doesn’t mean he should be paid more than he’s actually earned. AMAc was his partner... does he need to be paid like top pairing dman? Nope. Sorry but provy hasn’t played overall all 3 years combined like 6.75 mil player. Obviously they MAY be reasons for that ie partner systems goalies etc but team
Should never pay a contract on just potential. Imo from what he’s done so far he SHOULD be around 4 mil. Now if the reasons he has played the way he has is because of all these other reasons and he he takes the steps forward (and quickly) then yeah contract will be good. That’s a risk flyers willing to take. But saying this deal is a steal and just assuming it will be amazes me. I mean I hope he does progress but personally I’m not expecting a quick turnaround from him. I think he’s a little overhyped. I like him and but I think Sanheim in the next few years overall becomes valuable to team than provy. Just my opinions

He’s one of the top GM’s in the NHL. His track record in Minnesota proves it.

Hometown discount Waldo. 30 points -16 should be worth in excess of 8+ million AAV.

While agree this contract is paying for his potential, I believe there is good reason to believe Provy is well worth it. Mentioning AMAC actually helps provys case, would he have been better with a better partner and better D group?

Will SanHeim be worth more, I hope so. Will Myers be worth more? Maybe. I think a point you didn’t make is each D plays a slightly different role, each role might and hopefully will be worth a 7 mil pay day

Based upon the NHL today and Provys body of work this is a real good contract for both sides

Seriously, it's a good deal for 6 years.

- jmatchett383
