Don't you wish there was an "ignore " feature on Hockeybuzz forums like there is on so many other forums ?

Anyone think there is any possible way that Heinola makes the Jets team this season? Probably not big enough yet, eh? I'm stretching. If not, might Stanley be ready?

And I hope I don't hear "No, Maurice never plays his rookies" comments. Ruins them!

No. I enjoy reading commentary all over the spectrum. Why would I want to ignore someone , out of hand, who is as enthusiastic about the Jets as I am? I believe It's to my benefit to have my ideas challenged, As long as I don't personalize it.....

I would be pleasantly surprised if he was ready, plus it sounds like PoMo is still in #5's camp wholeheartedly. I hoping to be surprised by Kuli after hearing his comments on his physical health......

Yea I'm still hoping for a decent year from Kulikov but he always gets hurt once he starts to come around.

But this is his contract year, isn't it. We need some toughness back there besides Beaulieu. (and Buff when, and if, he shows)

I also would not want to ignore someone who was "enthusiastic" about the Jets and its players or someone who "benefits" from their ideas getting challenged. However , on the other hand, someone who bashes 70% of the Jets players, the coach, the GM, the assistant coaches, the system, etc, and who constantly makes excuses for his own mistakes and poor judgment, ( ie. a troll ) would deserve to be ignored if the feature existed.

We could use more video of the scrimmages such as some of the other team bloggers do. I can tell you that Elias Petterson is going to be even better this season, looking very Gretzky-like in the early going based on what I've seen out of Vancouver so far.

I do genuinely love having my opinions challenged. When it comes to debating on hockey, you either win or you learn something. The problem is you’ve never actually challenge my opinions, you simply disagree, then attempt to undermine and insult.

75 games this season - 90 pts. maybe +

Could be injury prone though, but the Canucks brought in some muscle this year, didn't they?

from Bryan Little re: Laine

“He gets pretty down on himself and pretty negative with himself sometimes. I went through that when I was younger, too. You feel like you should be scoring all the time and when you’re not, you’re really hard on yourself.

“He’s still so young. He’s got a ton of skill, he’s got that shot. A lot of kids come in with those skills — not Patrik’s calibre — but it’s kind of those other parts of the game that develop over time. I think he’s got a ton of room to grow, as do most young players, with the defensive part of the game, even off ice, being a professional and stuff like that.”

EK keeps reporting that Laine is going to either Montreal or NYI. Both possibilities seem exciting. I am wondering out loud if the following would be a possibility:

To MTL: Mathieau Perreault, Patrik Laine

To WPG: Jonathan Drouin, Nik Suzuki, 2020 1st round pick, 2021 2nd round pick

It would be interesting to see what Ehlers could do with his former running mate from the Mosseheads.

Possibly something like that, but my gut just feels the Isles are a much better trading partner. Drouin?

In reality, probably not traded at all, for the time being.

Letestu centering Roslovic tonight. That should close the book on anyone who still believes Roslovic will ever be a C as long as Maurice is the coach.

If NYI offers up Matt Barzal, I do that trade everyday of the week, twice on Sunday!

Ultimate, the Jets would run into the same RFA problems with Barzal next year. Barzal is talented no doubt and we need a 2nd line center so he fits a lot of our needs. However, on the other hand , I also believe that despite a terrible year and obvious defensive and positioning problems, Laine has more upside to come than does Barzal. I also doubt the Islanders would ever trade Barzal so the points are kinda moot.

Certainly, I can see both sides of the debate though on the merits and demerits of either player in that trade.

Roslovic should be a RW.

Couple things
I don’t think Drouin and Ehlers actually played together in Halifax (on the same line I mean)

Drouin has not been good or remotely close to living up to a 3rd overall pick, and it’s been a while now in the league for him.

I dont think your offer is enough for Laine or why you are including Perreault? Can the Habs even fit Laine and Perreault under their cap?

Way to early to write him off completely at Center

I am not done believing that Roslovic can be a #2 center in the NHL. That said there is no shame in being a winger if you are better at it.

Letestu has played center his whole career and it would not make any sense to have him play the wing on roslovic's line but can work with Rosy on the wing. Letestu has some mentorship qualities that Roslovic will benefit from.

the best franchises/dynasties brought most of their prospects along slowly/steadily (exception of the Oilers who were gifted a powerhouse when they entered the league). Montreal, Detroit, Bruins etc. When Roslovic's day comes it will be a bit of a surprise to the rest of the league to encounter a young player with a rounded game and getting the details right.

I think that Mooshead line with Ehlers was Max Fortier and Timo Meier .

You are right! I was going to make the same argument for Drouin that people have been making for Laine, that both have not played with good players. Lol.

I would only include Perreault in any deal to clear up salary cap space and also to make more room for players like Appleton, Vesalainen, Spacek, etc....

He’s 22 years old. How much more time would you give him? The Jets don’t believe in him as a Center or else they would have already played him there. Scheifele at 18 was not put on the wing and was consistently brought up as a Center every time he was put on the team.

22 is not considered young anymore. That’s how old Petan was, when Jets fans were calling him washed up and a bust.

Letestu played al last year in the AHL, he is no longer an NHL caliber player. This is the bigger issue over what position he plays, cause he should be playing it on the Moose
