It doesn't take much reading between the lines to find ruffled feathers with Laine. He is not happy with decisions Maurice is making about linemates and usage, doesn't like playing with Little, considers Ehlers at best a #1b linemate, considers himself better than Connor, isn't professional with his off-ice game preparation, depends on others for defense, puck recovery, protecting the puck, moving the puck up the ice and passing it to him when he gets around to moving his feet to get open.

There is a whole lot more out there than this one article indicating he is unhappy in his role. This one is a little more pointed than most. Any good agent tells the players to 'love playing for these fans in this city' or something like that. He has a lot to prove before he earns a 7m+ contract like they are requesting.

The problem with Roslovic is that we can’t even guess what he is as a player until the season starts. His minutes, deployment, and usage have all be so random and limiting, that it’s got his numbers all over the place.

His first stint saw solid offensive and possession numbers. Once he got full time duty, he was all around bad as a centre, then didn’t have any offensive jump on the wing, but is suddenly a good defensive forward? Who even knows.

You can listen to an Interview Jolanen did on 1290 this afternoon. He goes into more details and confirms Laine never mentioned a single player, that like all RFA’s icetime and linemates are discussed, how much he likes it here, doesn’t want to get traded and just wants a contract.

This whole talk of him being 'generational' is also misleading. Accurate comparison of Laine while you like or not is Rick Nash. There is nothing wrong with having pragmatic expectations of players. Rick Nash had a great career.

Well Rick Nash at age 20 averaged a point per game, something that Laine has yet to do.

But besides that, this cheat code you speak of. It did not work for 64 games last season, or in mathematics terms, over 75% of the season.
