I agree. I'd take all of them at their cap hits for max 8 year deals. But these guys want to be UFAs and come back to the table again ASAP. Especially if they win awards and/or Cups.
Barrie is going to want 8 and he's not worth it. Rielly will want the same or more and he will be worth it.
Interesting note from theScore; Drew Doughty doesn't seem happy in LA anymore. Said the team has been poop since they last won the Cup. He's basically wasted 4 years of his prime and maybe if they suck again this year he asks for a deal. Would you rather have Barrie at 8 or Doughty? Enter Nylander, plus some significant sweeteners and the Leafs might have the ingredients to make a serious move to fill the last hole on their team. - JohnFergusonJr
Not gonna lie, your post usually fall a little too negative for me....they pretty much suck.....................BUUUUUUUUUUUTTTTT....
Don't mind that one at all!!! |

Meh,
As much as people wanna pissy and moan about the cost of players this is pretty much what I thought we'd wind up with. I doubt he regresses in point totals. He's healthy. His prime(22-28, because that's a player's prime in the modern NHL nowadays) is ours.
Let's see what we can do.
If we wanna freak about contracts, now it's Reilly in a couple years. I bet they let Andersen walk unless the new TV deal and expansion shoots the cap up by 10m. Hope Scott or Woll will be ready.
Now let's see what this team can do. |

Really? Since the leak not even a full week has gone by and all of a sudden he signs???
22 year old kid hearing all the hate...."(frank) this, I don't need and extra $500k and one less year. I'm signing."
Don't kid yourself, he could have held out. You could easily make the argument that his dad and agent probably wanted him to hold out longer.
Public opinion matters to some...ie: endorsements, etc. - underhill14
Held out and done what? He had to sign by opening or sit or go to Zurich. If was going to play, then don’t miss any training camp. |

All correct - plus he wants to play and win here.

Doughty makes 11, but yeah between the two, Doughty is on a whole other level. - 13sundin13
Should be their #1 target if possible. |

Would love Doughty on the Leafs but 44 million tied up in 4 players would be really tough to work with. |

Again, guess we’ll see. Don’t blame me for not wanting to jump the gun with saying he’ll be this and that. - RafiDRW
Both Marner and JT would have to be off, I think. It could happen I guess...but not likely.
Marner drives the play and creates so much on his own - something JT had to do in the past. Now all JT has to do is get to the front of the net - he can play another 10 years easy...lol. JT Andreychuk. |

Lol perfect!
Also marner is getting paid 4 million a year more then nylander.
Nylander might end up being the steal of the trio as far as points per dollar goes. |

I'd usually agree with that idea but if those players are the best in the league at what they do, how could you resist? Especially if one of them is literally the last major puzzle piece?
We've seen the Leafs move 1st rounders to dump bad deals and acquire marginal players. Let's seem them use some picks, prospects and Nylander to land that Doughty and really start going for the Cup.
Remember, we gotta compete with Tampa Bay every year. |

4 million more than willy. That's nuts
The stars didn't leave much money to fill out the rest of the team.
Anyways. They will win the cup this season. So I don't care |

Cody Ceci turned the puck over on 16.4% of his defensive zone possessions last season. That ranked him 232nd out of 272 qualified defenceman. - JohnFergusonJr
Who cares, 5 guys on the ice with him. None of them are here now. They’ll be just fine....if not he’ll get shuffled down the lineup. |
