Substitute patrick for Coots and we had this exact conversation a thousand times from 2012-16

Everyone needs to slow the (frank) down with this trade patrick absurdity. I bet all of yall wanted to trade Embiid when he was always hurt huh?

Not many comparables between the two.

Coots was a presumptive first overall pick that because of injury/illness fell to the flyers (only by a few spots in both cases)

Both players were more developed defensively than offensively early in their careers. Both had some injury struggles. Fans wanted to offload both saying they were busts. Both had less than stellar linemates but when put with better players produced more. Not saying Patrick is gonna turn into Coots but the story isnt that different

Not saying offload him for a bag of Cheetos, but at this going rate, is he going to be in the top 8 or 9 eligible players you want to protect in 2 years?

I'm not going to speculate about what's happening two years from now

"Frankly not having Wayne Simmonds this year, not having Dale Weise, not having Radko Gudas"

I don't know that not having Weise means anything, but no Simmonds or Gudas is concerning to me.

Wouldn't mind seeing Stewart make the team.

I’m coming around on Stewart. If the kids need more time, sign him up. They need a bit of a bruiser.

yeah, no doubt ... and it seems like Fletcher thinks they do, too.

As long as he saves the punisher act for games and not scrimmages, it’s cool. 😉

Wouldn't you rather get one with a late round pick on the cheap than risk a guy who already played his way out of the league once?

If he can stick around, great. I'm not so optimistic. Guys who can't get a NHL job generally don't come back and land one.

If he’s in shape and able, I won’t mind. He could end up as a temp and get sent down sometime, too. I’m gonna have some faith in new regime right now...until they go and (frank) something up.

Bridge deal seems like the best route to go. If his agent is adamant about being long term I can see Konecny missing games.

The whole NHL landscape for salaries is changing .....the young RFA’s coming off 3 year entry level deals want the big money and there’s really no way to avoid situations like Konecny’s....makes me think the Next CBA will have these contracts as a central focus from the ownerships side. The league has to find a way to get these young guys playing. It not good for the players, the fans or the owners..
- landros 2

The PA needs to find a way to get that money to the players.

If an owner is not willing to cooperate, sell the team buddy.

I have no pity that their margins not as big as they want and I am tired of constant deference to the money! the labor deserves theirs.

The PA needs to stand firm, there is no league without them and I think the owners will blink first.

EDIT: yes this will cause the big markets to have a decided advantage; they do anyway.

A potential lengthy holdout and injury to two players in the top 9. Impressive

Something the knee-jerks overlook... there have already been 10-13 game stretches in his first two years where Patrick was very productive. Hints at what he can, and probably will, do as he matures at the NHL level. There were all the same hints with Couturier.

Not enough sandpaper to his game to earn that kind of contract. Konecny needs to be a lunch pail player for this club on both ends of the ice. I don't care how many goals he scores or how he dingles and dangles around like a girly man. I want more grit from him and I want it now before we give him any kind of big money!

Great! Give me a ready-made top-6 winger like Konecny all day! It'd do loads to help keep us out of the basement and, as far as I'm concerned, that's what matters.
