And he had at least one registered concussion before that.

Stemming from last season. In March he had to be cleared for the Isles game. Since flyers is dead silent about this, I fear he still have symptoms.

Was he even ever officially diagnosed w/ a concussion?

Micah McCurdy just posted an isolated impact study of Prov the other day and his effect on the PP play is shockingly poor.

You can find it on his twitter page if you're interested. Won't directly post the chart here since I don't want to trigger the troglodytes.

Not that I think this is not correct because when I watch Provorov play on the PP, he's not real efficient at it. If you're going to do a complete analysis here, show me the information for all the players that play on the 2nd PP unit. This is the trap that you and a lot of fans who like to use analytics and other data fall into. I'm willing to bet that if Provrov played on the 1st PP unit with Giroux and others, his impact on the PP would improve.

It's an isolated impact model, geared to remove teammates, opponents and score effects from the equation.

It is impossible to remove the effects of teammates and opponents in the game of hockey. There is no statistical model that can do that.

Can't remove completely, but can diminish effect of other variables to a considerable extent. Enough to get an idea of who's doing what, at least.

No, they really can't. Hockey is a team sport. Any analytical statistic can only tell you what happens on the ice when a player is on ice. Who is responsible for what requires analysis. Until data collection changes, that won't change.

If you're in the mood to debate the validity and accuracy of McCurdy's model (and math+hockey in general), I'm sure he'd be willing to humor you on Twitter.

I'm not arguing the math or the science. Just the sport. It's a team sport. There is no argument he could make to change that or the data.
