I know Provy's and McAvoy's contract are different. Provy had 26 points and McAvoy had 25 points in less games last year (54).

McAvoy plays with Chara, Provy mainly with AMAC...

you can see the potential with McAvoy, if he can stay healthy for 82 games.

Looking at the contracts, both have their good and both have risk, is one a steal and one is not?

Detractors said we shouldn't pay Provy for his potential, are they paying McAvoy for his?

I personally don't think either the Werenski or McAvoy contracts are a steal. Of the three contracts, the one that has the potential to be a steal in the future is the Provorov contract.

I really don't get the McAvoy headline saying it is a steal, it could be a good deal but he hasn't played a full season so far and having Chara can't hurt.

Is the consensus thought of this contract pretty much the same of provy, a bit of an overpay now but down the road will look like a bargain? I was hoping it wouldn't be any more than 5 a season and honestly thought it could be 4.5 a season, but I am in the camp that thinks Konecny has more to his game and can end up being close to a PPG scorer as well as an agitator and an all round pest to play against.

Slight overpay now, will probably be good value within 2 years, and a steal by the end (hopefully)

Have to assume it must have been signing bonus vs. salary structure ...even with that you gotta wonder how it did not get pinned down more quickly.

Provys made a little more sense- once Werenski signed it became much easier

TK idk. Maybe he saw how they were putting Faravee with the big guns and heard what AV was saying and told his agent to just make a deal
