He tried to trade Ghost but the best offer was a 5th.

If there's one thing we should enjoy about Fletcher is he has stuck to his word from the beginning. We all were worried based on Homer and Scott's comments any new GM would have his hands tied and make some knee jerk moves. Fletcher signed our big RFAs, had a great first draft, addressed the holes through FA and now is giving young guys an opportunity to make the big club. I will proudly say I'm loving this hire so far

I agree with all of this except the draft, book is still out. I am pleased with what he has done, now lets see what AV can do with this roster.

I'll be a bit happier if/when Morin and Myers prove to be noticeably better than Braun, that they move him and recoup the pick or upgrade it. Maybe we dumb luck into someone losing a veteran Dman in camp and they come calling. NOT THAT IM HOPING for an injury...just saying i would have preferred skipping the braun Deal to start with. I get why it was done but I believe it will prove unnecessary quickly.

Same deal as Provy contract

Slight overpay now, will probably be good value within 2 years, and a steal by the end (hopefully)

A little too tight to the cap for my liking but I still expect the cap to go up a decent amount in the next few years and we probs wont resign Niskanen or Jake at the end of their deals

- bulet13

These slight overpays add up though. I think Hayes and TK are both about 750K too much and Provorov 500K more than I like.

Would be nice to have that 2 million in available cap space right now.

True but its also could swing the other way and in 3 years we have an extra 4 million because those deals are steals and we wont have to negotiate a new deal after a bridge contract

I am 100% sure at this point there will be another work stoppage in the next year or two. The salary structure needs to be revisited and once again the owners need to be saved from themselves.
- MBFlyerfan

There will be at least three more NHL seasons before the next work stoppage.

https://nhlpa.com/news/1-...pa-declines-to-reopen-cba

TORONTO (Sept. 16, 2019) The National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) announced today that the Executive Board has declined to reopen the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with the National Hockey League (NHL) following the 2019-20 season. This means the current CBA remains in effect through the 2021-22 season. The NHLPA advised the League of its decision earlier today.

NHLPA Executive Director Don Fehr issued the following statement:

“While players have concerns with the current CBA, we agree with the League that working together to address those concerns is the preferred course of action instead of terminating the agreement following this season. We have been having discussions with the League about an extension of the CBA and expect that those talks will continue.”

I am so much happier to watch the game tonight without thinking out TK and his absence from camp.

Good compromise. FINALLY!!!

It's 2019, you have options.

Exactly. Watched the rookies games from there and the last 3 seasons too.

I think Braun will be a huge upgrade from what Hagg and MacDonald did on the ice last season.

1.1 million dollars in cap space...

Okay, so now that the offseason is officially over. The contracts are signed, the trades have been made, are you happy with Chuck Fletcher’s work or do you think this is the beginning of a domino effect?

Provorov at 6.75 million for 6 years I think is fine. Konecny at 5.5 million a year I think is also fine. They’re apart of our future. They’re both locked up.

-On the flip side, do you still feel like it was Necessary to trade a second and a third round pick for Justin Braun? -Do you feel it was necessary to retain 30% of Radko Gudas’ contract, that pretty much makes Matt Niskanen at 6 million dollar player on the books, instead of a 5.75 million dollar player. Do you still have no concerns with Kevin Hayes at 7.14 million, even though he’s a one time 50 plus player and struggles to reach 20 goals a season?

My feeling is, we should be a good team. We better be! I’m a little worried about Phil Myers becoming a cap causality and starting the season with the Phantoms because we have eight defensemen or Samuel Morin missing another opportunity of becoming an NHL regular. I know the expectation is Robert Hagg might be traded but Slippery slope before seeing Morin stay healthy.

Trading Morin would do nothing to the cap unless you plan on not having 23 men on the roster. He makes the league minimum.

Overall I am damn happy with what Fletcher has done...

1. Proven winning coaching staff
2. Didnt trade prospects
3. Addressed holes he felt the team had.
4. Solid contracts as Im not in the camp that Hayes was a huge overpay.

Things I dont like
1. While i understand why they did it I feel like Braun is unnecessary.

For multiple reasons I feel this team should be substantially better , on paper, then how they ended last year.
