Thanks darren dreger haha, but can that be said about the leafs too? If anderson plays like poop, the leafs will lose too? If Fleury is garbage, so are the knights? Were the leafs in the top 5, 5v5 scoring?
Look, at the end of the day, i think the Atlantic is the best division. Its going to be absolutely nuts and each game is going to be huge. Im stoked for the leafs habs rivalry going forward!! - munky123
The Habs are far more reliant on Price. They need him to play well, the Habs are not built to outscore teams. |

Everybody keeps referring to Seattle. How does that affect the cap? I thought expansion fees were not considered ho key related revenue. - Canada Cup
The fees aren't, but everything else Seattle takes in will be. |

Because you gotta buy the team, so like 650mil or whatever... and that’s league revenue.. then they sell a poop-ton of new merch, which generates revenue. Corporations buy boxes, seasons tickets etc.. It’ll be a new arena*, which gives the NHL a more modern feel.. Lots of factors..
But the thing that’ll boost the cap more is the new TV deal that’ll happen in the US.
*revenvated. Still, nicer than the arenas built in the 90’s.. Anything older that’s not renevated are so trashy and need to be torn down, starting with CGY |

The expansion fee isn't revenue but the other stuff is. |

But it only boosts the cap if Seattle takes in more than the league average right? |

I feel sorry for Seattle fans. GMs won't let what happened with Vegas happen with Seattle. I don't see them getting a first round pick and a guy like Karlsson. |

The expansion fee itself has nothing to do with the cap but Seattle will bring in money. |

A Leafs v. Habs playoff series would be must-see for any hockey fan. There's a chance this year anyway. - Zezel
I doubt it.
Not only would the Habs need to make the playoffs (don't think they do) but the Leafs would need to face them in the 2nd or 3rd round. Also unlikely. |

If it's anything like the last TV deal i isn't much. 200 mill a year. Roger's deal is more than twice that. |

Zero chance..
And now teams are really going to try to not help them because of how successful Vegas was. I’ll sorta be pissed if they don’t suck. |

You know there is this thing called the CBA right?
You can buy into their whining all they want, but they are ignoring one very simple, fundmental, inconvenient truth. - Aetherial
Don't even try with him. You'll spend days trying to drill it into his skull. |

You know, I like the way the Habs play. Because they have Price back there, they are a pretty open team. They play fast. It maximizes the play of guys like Gallagher and Domi. As long as Price can continue to be a reliable backstop for them, the Habs have potential to make the playoffs or at least be in the thick of it. They don't have elite finishers as pointed out, but they have a style of play that gets the most of the producers that they do have.
I think they could repeat that play, providing that Price can continue to be the man that gives the team in front of him confidence.
Reaslitically, the Leafs are similar - they just have more offensive weapons to trot out, so they can be more difficult to contain. Or at least more difficult to trade chances with, because at some point you're on the wrong side of that exchange if you don't have as many weapons. |

But I think the league liked having a competitive expansion team rather than it being hopeless as they have been in the past. I think the plan is to give Seattle similarly favourable expansion rules as well. Fans of other teams may not like it, but it's in the league's best long term interests to start the expansion team off on the right foot. Vegas was a fantastic story that brought attention to the league. |

I don't see it either, but some of these that they got - teams were dumping their "mistakes" and Vegas was grabbing guys who wanted to remind the league that they were better than their former teams had thought them to be.
William Karlsson was a nobody who had scored 6 goals in 81 games the year before he was drafted by Vegas. It's not like Marchessault sucked - but Florida wanted out of that contract. |

For sure, all he is saying is GM's throughout the league will be much smarter on how they approach the expansion draft. For example, not dishing out high picks to not select a certain player, etc..

Every guy on the team was playing with a chip on their shoulder. If you think about 3rd and 4th lines today compared to when Nashville & Columbus came into the league there is so much more talent today. Much better chance you can get someone who just needed an opportunity that they previously weren't getting.
I just want them to be the Kraken
