Eichel wins the meaningless game. Nice. Want to see the highlight later, heard was breakaway goal with 8 seconds left. - Lilroot9
It was generic Eichel. Nothing spectacular, was a real nice 'Vanek' shot |

But you see, if he's useless everywhere else like the Lockport twins, and also doesn't add to the PK...
What would ya say.. he does here. - TheSabresTaco

I just dont think we see eye-to-eye on what a modern bottom-6 should look like
I want speed, pace, offensive chances and playing in the offensive zone |

Eichel made 2 passes mistakes on that play hes lucky the d blocker the 3-2 on the last play and gave him the puck when he was the last guy back on the backcheck...one of his worse game |

What’s interesting is the structure on these. Almost all of the three year deals are heavy on the back end. If I’m Vancouver my window isn’t as short as the leafs (etc.), I’m shooting for more term even if it’s higher dollar. - Sabre_Tooth
If the contract doesn't take the player to UFA, they will backload like this because it makes the QO bigger. |

Cozens played a nice, simple game. Some nice opportunities, kept it simple, drove the net. Sure as poop isn't ready, but is solid so far. |

Oh, no, I want that too. But I want players to do things, like drive a modicum of offense.
Erod flopped today. |

Agree to disagree
He had a nice 1-on-0 on the goalie and fed Sheary on a 2-on-1 that Sheary whiffed |

His OT and some of his later game opportunities soured me tonight.
I'm partially busting your balls though, but I still don't think he did what he's capable of doing. |

I’m not impressed at all with Baker tonight. Lot of forced throws into double coverage. Couple of nice throws, but nothing special. I think they are only winning because Jets are a huge mess right now.
At least Bell got paid, cause he is going to get the ball every play for the rest of the game. |

Two reasons why that might happen.
1. Player says short term deal at lower cap hit, must have high QO.
2. The team plans on trading him if he is not worth the QO. |

I'm way more excited to see the CM/Rhino and Swede lines tomorrow. Tonight was good to see Cozens, Gilmore, Dahlin with Joker and to see if Eichel Sheary and Vesey would click.
But I'm hoping to see a lot from Aspen, Snowman and Fatboy. |

I suppose that all it does is that it guarantees him one year at 7.5M. Anything else, that number is useless. Guess I'm just not seeing the angle. |

7.5M base year 3. But why would a team want a massive QO? - TheSabresTaco
The team doesn't want a big QO. The player wants a big QO. It guarantees he'll get at least one more year of the higher salary if he underperforms the contract, or he'll be a UFA. It also increases the chances the player could hit UFA at the end of the deal because the team might decide the QO is simply too high, like the Sabres did with Lehner. If the player performs well, the two sides can work out an extension.
It's basically the price the team pays to get the player at a lower cap while retaining his RFA rights when the contract expires. RFA's have very little leverage, so they have to take what little they can get. |

This makes sense. Low cap for the team, high QO for the player. |
