Anyone got a lineup for tonight?

Apparently the game is on TSN tonight. That's cray-cray.

But I love it.

Not sure about the sum of the parts but I read that he is the fastest skater at camp. Sounds like Coach might like the theory of Mik-Ker-Kap as a speedy puck hounding type line.
- The Law

I think that will be the line. More or less what I was trying to say was the leafs actually may have signed a decent euro forward for once. That doesn't mean he will have a long nhl career, but he is looking like he will fit in on that line very well.

Honestly, I don't think as many people would complain because it would be what is expected of him. When the leafs drafted him, they made a huge deal how he will for sure be the 3rd line center and it's 100% he gets there. Now he's struggling to even keep the 4th line spot.

If he was drafted in the 4th and played that many games, I think most on here would be happy about it.

I don't know. My problem with Gauthier never had anything to do with my expectations of him from his draft position. Once you're out of the top 10, the expectations change anyway. My problem with Gauthier is that he is a poor skater, is a big man who plays small, has bad hands, and a below average shot - especially for a big guy. He clogs the lanes well, and isn't afraid to battle for the puck, which is good. But again, for a guy of his size and strength, he loses more battles than he wins.

The only reason he kept getting shots as the 4C is because he's inexpensive and he's tall. He's not very good.

I really wasnt expecting much, i know some were expecting top 6.

- Fakepartofme

I think a komarov like career is very possible. Is be very happy if he has that.

What's not to love?

Tiny town. Walk everywhere. Fresh fish. George Street.

If I was smart (I'm not), I would have taken the week off and flown there to watch a few games.

That will be fine as longs as he is cheap. We need a bit of a physical pressence.
I think they want bracco in the top 6 role, so may not be the year for him...or he gets to fill a wing spot when matthews gets injured and they shift someone over to center for a short while.

When he used his size, which he did with Moore on his line, he actually looked like a nhl player. I remember one game, I was like when did he finally figure it out.. not hitting, but pulling a antropov or ponikarovsky and outmuscling...sorry outsizing guys for the puck , sometimes against 2 defenders and creating some offensive space for speedy moore. It was weird to see and it happened for a few games. Your scouting report is spot on with gauthier, thats why i was so surprised with his play while with moore.

I'm curious to see him. Good skater and good shot is usually a nice combination, but if he's not engaged, has poor anticipation, poor position, or slow to react, or whatever . . . In my amateur profession as "not a scout", I'm not sure exactly just what sets one really good player apart from another really good player, but I mean, Soshnikov was a good skater and had a good shot and he has a total of 8 NHL goals.

Thing is, if they want bracco in that role, putting him with Brooks and marchment isnt going to show all too well.

I heard an interview on the radio this morning: apparently Bracco took a total of 3 days vacation this summer. The rest was working with Barb Underhill and the Leafs' training facility to morph his game.

He wants to work his way onto the 4th line.

I do recall that as well. I was giving credit more to Moore because I figured he was creating a disturbance with his speed which I thought might have been a distraction . . . maybe it was just knowing Moore was there was giving Gauthier the impetus he needed to battle harder? If you win a battle for a puck and have no one to give it to or nowhere to put it, what's the point? Anyway, I was also impressed with a few of those games - noticing certainly that the Goat got at least 2 of his goals as the direct result of Moore - maybe the third as well, but I can clearly remember 2 of them.

Has Dermott been offer sheeted yet?
- poopstash

Silly PoopStash... you can't get offersheeted when you are injured.

otherwise... it will be mayhem, dominoes and at least 11M for 7 years

question - for the purposes of the Offer Sheet Speculation - is Dermott good or great? proven or not proven?

Simple answer:

Leafs negotiations:

Really really good, proven top four, Leafs can't afford him.

Leafs sign him:

Not good. Hasn't proven anything. Dubas got fleeced.

Other team making offer sheet:

Really really good, not proven yet, so they are smart to offer-sheet him.

Other team signing him:

Really, really, really, really good. Proven winner.

Its interesting... I think the Goat just needs to be dragged into the fight... a guy like Moore is perfect, pushes the pace and Goat takes from his lead (in my opinion). I've never understood the hate that Goat gets... he usually is not a liability in his own zone... with Hyman out hopefully he gets a longer look as a PK guy. If you happen to be one of those guys who thinks the Goat is slow, Spezza will remind you of Jason Allison.
